Hello everyone, I have a specific question about cleaning Ikea Metod glass fronts. These fronts have been in use in my kitchen for a few years now, and I want to clean them effectively and permanently without causing scratches, water spots, or other damage. Unfortunately, I have noticed that aggressive cleaners or incorrect cleaning methods quickly leave marks or make the glass appear dull.

My questions are:
- Which cleaning products are suitable to keep the glass fronts clean while protecting the surface in the long term?
- Are there any special techniques or procedures to clean them without causing damage?
- Does anyone have experience with gentle cleaning agents, and how often should one clean to maintain the appearance?

I look forward to helpful tips, preferably with explanations for the recommended methods, so I can develop sustainable care routines.

I would recommend using a mild soapy solution and a microfiber cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.

Regarding the proper cleaning of Ikea Metod glass fronts: Here is a brief guide to help protect the surface in the long term while still cleaning effectively:

- Use lukewarm water with a mild neutral dish soap solution. It is important that the cleaning product contains no solvents, alcohols, or acids that could damage the glass or surrounding materials.

- Clean with a soft microfiber cloth or alternatively a lint-free cotton cloth. Anything else may cause fine scratches.

- Avoid rough sponges or abrasive cleaners, as the glass fronts are sensitive to scratches.

- For more stubborn stains like fingerprints or grease, you can occasionally wipe with a splash of vinegar water (1 part vinegar to 10 parts water), but always rinse afterward.

- To prevent water spots, always dry the glass thoroughly instead of letting it air dry.

- Regular cleaning prevents dirt from sticking, which can be difficult to remove later.

In summary: mild cleaning, soft cloths, and no harsh chemicals are key.

If anyone has other methods or experiences, I would be interested to hear them.

Regarding cleaning: It is better to clean more frequently and gently than less often with stronger cleaners. Liquid dish soap in warm water is sufficient. Just dry afterwards, preferably with a microfiber cloth, and avoid using abrasive cleaners.

Thank you for the detailed explanation; it is very well formulated and helpful. I would like to add that it is advisable to test any new cleaning product on an inconspicuous area before use.

Also, after cleaning, the glass surfaces should not be left to dry in direct sunlight, as this can cause streaking. Wipe them down afterward with a dry, clean cloth.

Cleaning with a window leather (chamois) can also work well if used carefully.

The most important thing is to avoid treating the surface aggressively, as this could damage the sealant.

I’m very glad that the post is received so positively, thank you very much!

I have another question: Regarding the number of cleanings per month – is it better to clean frequently and gently, or is cleaning once a week sufficient to preserve the surface? My goal is for the fronts to look like new for a long time, but I don’t want to wear them out unnecessarily.

Does anyone know the optimal balance?
