ᐅ Handles, template, spacing, symmetry – frustration

At the local IKEA, I always grabbed the top handles from underneath. I also didn’t find it problematic with the slightly overhanging countertop.

Check how you would grip it.

I’d like to bring up the difference between the geometric center and the optical center... The latter is recommended for attaching handles, but of course, you should place your handles wherever you personally find most appealing. If you can’t decide: get two sets of cheap fronts (or have particleboard cut to size at your local hardware store) and try it out.

Personally, as an IKEA expert, I installed my handles at the geometric center of the narrowest front and placed all other handles at the same distance from the top edge.

Just flipped through the catalog... interesting how the handles on page 10 are NOT centered, but on page 13 (same kitchen, same spot?) they are, because that somehow looks better.

On page 10, it would not be possible to install the handles in the center and align them on the adjacent tall fronts with those on the narrow fronts. In that case, the handle on the tall fronts would sit on or just above the slopes of the panel.

Yes, I see that. However, two pages earlier, the apparently same spot (close-up of the buffet cabinet in the same kitchen) has the handles centered.

This is definitely a different kitchen; it now has a blue tag attached.

Many images have been digitally assembled on the computer by now. Or the handles were moved digitally for close-up shots because it looks better.
