Sektionschef26 Sep 2013 16:38Hello
I have a few questions on my mind:
I heard somewhere that besides 16cm (6 inch) baseboards, there are also ones with a height of 22cm (8.7 inch).
Does anyone know where I can find these on the IKEA website?
Which legs are needed for cabinets with 22cm (8.7 inch) high baseboards?
How should the dishwasher be installed then? Does it need to stand on some kind of plinth?
Regarding base drawer fronts:
Is it correct that IKEA only offers base drawer fronts for 60cm (24 inch) cabinets and not for 80cm (31.5 inch) wide ones?
Can base drawer fronts also be used on 60cm (24 inch) wide tall cabinets? The IKEA online planner doesn’t provide this option. They are only selectable for base cabinets.
Can base drawer fronts also be used with 22cm (8.7 inch) high baseboards?
Best regards

A dishwasher can be placed on the countertop cutout of the sink or cooktop, that is fine.
For tall cabinets, do not use a base drawer in appliance cabinets due to ventilation, as already mentioned.
For 80 cm (31.5 inches) cabinets, you can install two extra legs at the spacing used for 60 cm (23.6 inches) cabinets and snap the drawer slides onto them. But make sure to use additional legs, as these are mounted so that they extend beyond the cabinet’s side panels and the load is not only supported by the floor.
However, if the cabinet is properly secured to the countertop and neighboring cabinets, there should be no issues.

Sektionschef27 Sep 2013 08:58As always, thank you very much for your answers!
I actually need to ask Ikea because 22cm (9 inches) baseboards are not available on the Ikea Austria website. Even in the Austrian online planner, you can only select the 16cm (6 inches) baseboards, while the German planner offers both 16cm (6 inches) and 22cm (9 inches). Therefore, I assume that the 22cm (9 inches) baseboards will not be available in Austria.
IKEA expert, you answered yes to the question about the base drawer for 22cm (9 inches) baseboards. I checked Ikea Germany and there is only one base drawer, which is 8.3cm (3.3 inches) high. The assembly instructions show that the drawer rests on a roller at the bottom and that the baseboard should be 13.8cm (5.4 inches) wide. How is the base drawer installed with 22cm (9 inches) baseboards?
Zetterberg, you are right: for a standard tall cabinet without appliances (e.g., FA527), the planner does offer the base drawer. The idea of using the base drawers with additional legs for 80cm (31.5 inches) cabinets is a good one.
I also checked Metod – they don’t offer any base drawers at all in their range, but their baseboards are only 8cm (3 inches) high.

I
IKEA-Experte27 Sep 2013 10:10I therefore suspect that the 22cm (8.7 inches) plinth will not be available in Austria at all.
If you are very tall, I would rather get the 21cm (8.3 inches) plinth from Germany than be annoyed for many years by a working height that is too low. If you choose METOD, you can only hope that taller legs will be offered in the future. For some customers in Germany, where fitted kitchens are common, the absence of a second working height might be a dealbreaker.
I checked IKEA Germany and found that there is only one plinth drawer, which is 8.3cm (3.3 inches) high. The assembly instructions show that the drawer rests on a roller at the bottom and that the plinth strip is supposed to be 13.8cm (5.4 inches) wide.
How do you install the plinth drawer for a 22cm (8.7 inches) plinth?
RATIONELL drawers have a box height of 83mm (3.3 inches), except for the oven drawer, which is 68mm (2.7 inches). The rails for the plinth drawer are only attached at the front of the legs. Without a roller, the drawer would tilt when pulled out. However, there has been a design flaw from the start that has never been corrected. The roller is too small, so you have to place a small board between the roller and the floor.
An aluminum panel is supplied as the front. You can attach a piece of plinth strip on top of this to create a continuous plinth. However, the aluminum sheet can also be omitted, and the plinth strip can be mounted directly. This is also how it is done with the 21cm (8.3 inches) plinth.
I also checked METOD, and there are no plinth drawers available at all, but the plinth is only 8cm (3.1 inches) high there.
Exactly, at 8cm (3.1 inches) there is no space left. If a taller plinth is ever offered only for Germany, it is unlikely that a plinth drawer will be added again.
