Hello everyone, I’d like to start a discussion on the topic “Ikea Metod: How can I optimize the installation of baseboards?” I am currently facing the challenge of mounting the baseboards on my Metod kitchen base cabinets efficiently and securely. My main concern is to design the installation process so that the baseboards are firmly attached, properly aligned, and can still be easily removed if needed, without causing any damage to the cabinets or tiles. What experiences have you had with this? Are there any proven tips or tools that make the assembly easier? How do you handle alignment, fasteners (e.g., clips, screws, adhesives), and finishing touches when dealing with uneven surfaces, for example? I look forward to constructive advice and maybe also some warnings about common problems to avoid during installation.

I would recommend using the clips provided by Ikea, as they offer good support and are easy to install. It is important to thoroughly clean the surfaces before fastening to ensure the baseboards sit flush.

Great topic! I love my Metod kitchen, and I was initially unsure about the kickboards. My advice: take your time and work carefully! If you use clips, place them at regular intervals – this distributes the load evenly. I would avoid using adhesive, as that can cause problems later on. Good luck, you can do it! 😊

That's the right way, BASTIANTI! And an extra tip: When installing baseboards on uneven floors, you can use thin strips of felt or foam rubber at the fastening points – this compensates for slight irregularities and ensures a better hold. Don’t worry, the result will be great! 👏

Clips are definitely the preferred method. If you need extra stability for especially difficult areas, you can also use small screws. However, make sure to use the correct drill bits to avoid damaging the material.

Thank you for the quick responses. @maureo and @Traman4: I also use clips, but sometimes I feel they don’t hold as firmly as I would like on my tile substrates. That’s why I’m wondering if adding extra screws to the baseboards in Metod cabinets is really possible without compromising the stability of the lower cabinets or ruining the appearance? @GLALEO: The tip about felt strips sounds interesting. Do you have a specific thickness or source you would recommend? Sometimes the unevenness of my tiles is minimal but still visible – what would be advisable in that case?
