Hello,
I need either a sink cabinet 50 cm (20 inches) wide or a tall cabinet 30 cm (12 inches) wide. But neither of these are available at IKEA. Are there any alternatives?
Thanks for your help.

Hello,

1. Plan the kitchen differently,
2. Reduce the cabinet width (if 45cm (18 inches) is enough, use the dishwasher front as a door),
3. Extend the sink into the adjacent cabinet (if available),
4. Do not buy a kitchen from IKEA.

None of these are great solutions; the lack of the right widths is simply frustrating.

Hello, in another thread someone faced the same problem and used a cut-down door from Faktum, which apparently fits exactly with the Veddinge front. However, FAKTUM can only be ordered until May.

I would simply cut a 60cm (24 inch) wide carcass down to 50cm (20 inch) in width, install a 40cm (16 inch) wide door on one side, and cover the other side with a 10cm (4 inch) drawer front. The storage space behind it would still be preserved. 🙂 If reversing the door hinge makes more sense, that should work too if you use the Utrusta corner fitting. 🙂

You could also shorten a 60cm (24 inch) cabinet carcass to 45cm (18 inch) width and use a 45cm (18 inch) dishwasher front as the door, but you would need to drill the pot handle holes in the dishwasher front yourself or, for example, have them made by the woodcutting staff at a hardware store for a tip.

Or use a 45cm (18 inch) waste cabinet like the one with the Franke kick-matic (which we have), or with drawers (the last Faktum series with Blum slides and the small detail at the end of the cabinet frame can be converted to 45cm (18 inch) via eBay and the fronts can then be shortened) – but only internal drawers....

There are also 25cm (10 inch) fronts, which are installed on the corner cabinet.
