Hello everyone,
I am planning to get an Ikea PAX wardrobe and specifically want to know: what is the storage space inside the smallest Ikea PAX wardrobe?
I am particularly interested in the internal dimensions of the smallest model, that is, how much space is actually available for clothes and other items—not just the external measurements of the doors. Information on the width, depth, and height of the interior would be important, as well as a rough estimate of the volume it provides, especially considering hanging clothes or shelves.
If anyone also has practical experience with the layout or use of the smallest wardrobe, I would appreciate those insights as well.
Thanks in advance!

Are there any practical tips on how to divide the space to make the most efficient use of storage?Efficient? I think the Pax wardrobe system is highly overrated.
A width of 50 cm (20 inches) is really quite narrow, and if you want to store a lot, you will often hit that limit. It’s better to go for wider units or use additional storage solutions.
Anyone who’s really smart combines drawers, cabinets, and open shelving instead of relying solely on Pax. After all, pure cubic volume doesn’t help if you overlook the size of openings or accessibility.
I understand the frustration expressed in your comment, GALEO4. Sometimes furniture can feel limiting, especially when space is really tight.
I had a similar situation with my PAX. At first, I was disappointed too, but with some patience and proper organization, it worked out. You have to stay flexible and possibly make some compromises.
Wilpert, one option is to use clothes rails or additional hooks inside the wardrobe to maximize storage space on the sides. This can provide some relief, particularly with the smallest PAX wardrobe.

The internal width is approximately 46 cm (18 inches), and the depth is about 55-57 cm (22-22.5 inches) due to the construction and the back panel.Exactly, I have reviewed the manufacturer’s specifications again: the frame depth is officially 58 cm (23 inches), and the usable internal depth is around 55-57 cm (22-22.5 inches), as the rear area is occupied by the frame and back panel.
For storage space, this means you should theoretically assume a maximum internal volume of about 0.515 m³ (18.2 cubic feet). This corresponds to a usable footprint of approximately 0.025 to 0.026 m² (270 to 280 square inches) with a height of 2.01 m (6.6 feet).
Given the system’s flexibility, this is a practical size for such a compact unit. To optimize usage, it is worth using Ikea’s planning software.

Overall, I take away from the discussion that although the smallest PAX wardrobe is indeed very compact, it can offer quite a bit of storage space for small rooms thanks to flexible compartment layouts and additional small accessories.
Perhaps someone could also explain the maximum load capacity per shelf. That would be important information for me as well.
