Hello everyone,
I recently installed glossy IKEA Metod cabinet fronts in my kitchen and am now looking for the best cleaning method that preserves the high-gloss finish without damaging the surface.
I am especially interested in tips on the right cleaning solution, appropriate tools, and how to avoid micro-scratches.
Can anyone tell me if special cleaning products are necessary or if common household remedies are sufficient?
I would appreciate any helpful experiences or recommendations!

Basically, when dealing with glossy IKEA Metod fronts, the following points should be considered:
- Use a lint-free, soft cloth to avoid scratches.
- Use mild cleaning agents, such as a mixture of warm water and a small amount of dish soap.
- Avoid abrasive or harsh cleaners and rough sponges, as they can damage the surface.
- For tougher stains, a little vinegar or glass cleaner can help, but always test first in an inconspicuous area.
This approach provides a good balance between cleaning effectiveness and surface protection.

I completely understand how important it is to be careful, especially with those high-gloss surfaces. I once accidentally used a rough sponge and then noticed several small scratches afterward, which was really frustrating...
What helps me now is to wipe the surface again with a dry microfiber cloth after cleaning it with a damp one; this brings back the shine.
Sometimes it almost feels like detailing a car, but if you take the time, the result looks really good!

I totally agree with you, Henry! I've had the same experience here: if you're careful, you can restore the "mirror effect."
I usually use warm water with a small amount of mild dish soap, a soft cloth – and a little trick: afterwards, gently wipe it with a microfiber cloth, which really brings out the shine!
Avoid harsh cleaning agents, or you'll end up with more scratches than shine – and nobody wants that!

after cleaning with a damp microfiber cloth, polish again with a dry clothPolishing with a dry microfiber cloth is indeed highly recommended to remove residues and enhance the high-gloss effect without stressing the surface.
Please avoid using waxes or polishes, as they can cause long-term damage to the fronts.
