Hello everyone,
we are in the process of building a single-family house with a basement suitable for living. This is the design we have come up with. I would like to hear from you if you see any possibilities for improvements.
On the ground floor, there is a side entrance door on the right. The carport will be located there.
In the basement living area, the children's rooms face south. From there, it should be possible to access the terrace and the garden.
I look forward to your tips and suggestions!

Aging-in-place optimization would include a stairlift moped from the ADAC magazine. From my point of view, a utility room on the upper floor is a current trend and only serves present-day convenience. It would be better to have a laundry chute if you really need something like that. No, I see it differently since we won’t have a basement: Where is the wardrobe? Right: on the first floor; where is the bedroom? Right, on the first floor. I get dressed and undressed on the first floor. Why on earth would I want the laundry on the ground floor? Well, movement is not bad for seniors, I agree.
And regarding the stairlift: guess why I definitely want a straight staircase (with an electrical outlet)… you never know, right?
We are talking about old age, not the here and now. In the here and now, of course, it is comfortable. Staying active in old age makes sense to stay fit. But if you can no longer move or climb stairs, at least you still have your electrical connection. However, your entire life is spent in the status of being fitter or less fit. So, we are back to the comfort of the here and now.
The only person here who has prepared properly for old age is Karsten.

Kaho, could your "open staircase" be integrated into our design somehow? The main issue at the moment is the placement of the bedroom. I am not entirely sure which factors are most important. For example, is it crucial that it faces the garden, or could it also be located towards the street? If so, there would certainly be more options. However, if this "row arrangement" at the top of the plan cannot be changed, then I don’t see many alternatives left.

The critical point right now is the placement of the bedroom. I’m not entirely sure which factors are important here. For example, is it crucial that it faces the garden, or could it also be located on the street side? If so, there might be more options. However, if this "row arrangement" at the top of the plan is fixed, then I don’t see many alternatives. Well, the bedroom, walk-in closet, and bathroom should ideally be grouped together. The exact location doesn’t matter.

I would actually like to stick to my design... in more detail.
