Hello everyone,
we are in the process of building a single-family house with a basement suitable for living. This is the design we have come up with. I would like to hear from you if you see any possibilities for improvements.
On the ground floor, there is a side entrance door on the right. The carport will be located there.
In the basement living area, the children's rooms face south. From there, it should be possible to access the terrace and the garden.
I look forward to your tips and suggestions!

But no one had that idea, and it would be counterproductive… going up a whole floor every time you want to grill?Laughing... not the kitchen on the upper floor but moving it up in the design!

In the new version… how wide is the upper kitchen wall there? Is that enough for you? It’s more like a double-row kitchen layout.Currently 3m (10 feet). There are 10 units in total. I could add one more unit there… I’ll have to take a look!
I wouldn’t like that in a house of nearly 150m² (1,615 sq ft), the combined living, dining, and kitchen area is only 37m² (398 sq ft). When the children have moved out, you end up with many rooms and bathrooms, but the living room is still small. I would rather plan a house where a wall can be removed later to enlarge the living area. A few years pass quickly, and then the children have left, and the house no longer fits your needs.
Best regards,
Sabine

What do you think about this option?I would strongly recommend using a sliding door for the kitchen entrance... I find the drawn door rather impractical. I planned a double sliding door.
I would definitely not design the hallway narrower than 2.2m (7 ft 3 in). The staircase requires about 100cm (39 in), leaving 120cm (47 in), but you also have to deduct plaster thickness from that...
I would like to design the kitchen with a width of 3.7m (12 ft 2 in), so it can fit 3 × 60cm (24 in) tall cabinets and 2 × 90cm (35 in) base cabinets with the cooktop centered above, plus side panels of 5cm (2 in) each (don’t forget to deduct plaster thickness). If the TV wall doesn’t get shorter (in my plan it is 3.5m (11 ft 6 in)), then the house will need to be extended to the left.
I mostly kept the entrance area as you had it, except for the bedroom—I gave it a width of 3.5m (11 ft 6 in) because 3.36m (11 ft) in your plan is really tight. Realistically, a bed with a frame is about 1.9m (6 ft 3 in) wide, and you need at least 90cm (35 in) on the entrance side for the door radius, leaving only 56cm (22 in), which is definitely not enough. So I added those 15cm (6 in) so you get at least 70cm (28 in) behind the bed.

So... is this version now good (better than the old one) or does anyone have further improvement or optimization suggestions? Please state the external dimensions of the box again.Similar topics
