ᐅ Planning kitchen appliances: How to approach it. The market is overwhelming.

Hello everyone,

I have an appointment at the kitchen studio next Saturday and I’m preparing for it. Specifically, I’m looking for the appliances I want to have later in the kitchen. I’ve been researching a lot from brands like Neff / Siemens, Miele, Bora, etc., but I’m not making much progress.

For example, the current selection at Siemens looks like this:

Dishwasher IQ300 SN636X03MD
Oven IQ700 HB634GBS1
Microwave IQ500 HF15M264
Cooktop with integrated downdraft extractor EX801LX34E
or
2 x Cooktop IQ700 EX375FXB1E with extractor IQ700 LF16VA570

(The cooktop with integrated downdraft is the only fixed requirement, unfortunately I don’t have any influence on that ^^)

I actually value quality, energy efficiency, and a balanced price-performance ratio. But how can I find out if what you pick is really good? Or if there are possibly cheaper but equally high-quality products from other manufacturers. For example, the cooktop with integrated downdraft extractor from Miele—according to the catalog, it’s cheaper but just as good or even better?

How do you approach this?

However, anyone who dismisses IKEA because of the price has no understanding of good design. Because in this area, IKEA is a leader.

Oh, that sounds interesting [emoji4] What does design have to do with price, and what are the criteria for "good design"? [emoji6]

We also see the kitchen as unchangeable—once you invest properly, it’s set. To be honest, we even partially adapted the floor plan around the kitchen. The same goes for controlled ventilation, electrical installations, photovoltaics, and all the other elements that can’t be added later. New furniture is included in our budget plan, but it’s much easier for me to cut that out if necessary. Before I give up the garage, I’d rather do without any new furniture and continue using the old pieces, some of which have become very dear to me and are irreplaceable!

I’m going to admit it. We have ordered a Häcker kitchen.

Why come clean? We don’t have one ourselves, but the Häcker system would have been our alternative. They are top performers in terms of price and quality. Starting from price group 2 for the fronts, they have already surpassed Ikea in appearance and workmanship (even compared to the most expensive Ikea fronts...).

It fits perfectly! As long as you are happy with the total price and the features, everything is fine. All the talk about good and bad is pointless anyway—if this is THE kitchen you have always wanted, it will always be THE best for you, no matter what others say!

You forgot something. Let your wife choose the kitchen. I just always nodded and paid.
