Good morning everyone,
I am currently in the process of furnishing my apartment and have taken a particular interest in the IKEA Platsa series because I really like the modular design. However, there is one point I couldn’t fully clarify during my research: Are the Platsa furniture pieces available in different wood finishes? Specifically, I’m interested to know if IKEA offers, besides the classic white or white with wood accents, completely different wood tones like oak or walnut to give the furniture a warmer or more personalized look.
Does anyone have detailed information about the available surface finishes and whether different wood tones are offered—possibly as alternative fronts or side panels? I would appreciate any first-hand experiences or tips from current catalogs, as I want to create a harmonious color scheme for my furnishings. Thanks in advance!

Hey fukau!
I had the Platsa furniture in my living room last year. Unfortunately, IKEA’s selection usually isn’t very extensive when it comes to different wood tones, especially for series that are more minimalist in design. Platsa typically comes with white fronts, and some models have light wood-colored details, but I haven’t personally seen completely different wood tones yet.
Maybe there are new options in the range now, as IKEA changes their lineup frequently. I’d be interested to hear if anyone has heard about any updates! 😊

I reviewed recent catalogs and the online range. Platsa is mainly offered in white or with white fronts and only subtle wood look details.
In general, it is uncommon for IKEA to offer many wood finishes in series like Platsa. The idea behind this is often that the furniture is meant to serve as a flexible, bright base. For alternative surfaces, most people tend to use front replacements or custom solutions instead.
I honestly find that a bit unfortunate, because with modular furniture there is often a desire to bring in some warmth using wood tones. White is timeless, but it can sometimes feel impersonal.
Do you have any experience with whether the fronts of Platsa can be painted or swapped to resemble wood tones more closely? Or are other people also considering alternative designs?

Front panels can be purchased individually for Platsa, but only in the colors offered by IKEA. Painting them yourself is possible, but does not always work perfectly due to the surface finish.
If you prefer wood tones, it’s better to build your own solution or check out other product lines.
