Hello everyone, I am currently considering getting an IKEA PAX wardrobe for my attic. However, since the ceiling slope there is quite pronounced and the room height varies, I am wondering: Which IKEA PAX models or carcass options are particularly suitable for attics with sloped ceilings?
I am looking for recommendations regarding the best dimensions, possible modular adjustments, or tips on how to best adapt PAX to sloped ceilings without losing too much storage space. It would also be helpful to know if certain fronts or interior fittings are better suited to make the most of the limited space.
Thank you in advance for your opinions and experiences!

I would like to add that in attic spaces, choosing sliding doors is often advantageous, even if slightly more expensive, because they require less space when opened.
In addition, interior elements like adjustable-height clothes rails can be very useful for efficiently utilizing storage in lower areas.
Practically, the use of Pax wardrobe system components in combination with knee wall recesses can also help to optimally fill the space.

Two practical tips:
- Use the existing nominal dimensions: widths in 50cm (20 inches) increments make planning in attic spaces much easier.
- The low-profile models, especially the 50cm (20 inches) depth, are really valuable for avoiding a bulky appearance.
Additionally, I recommend considering customized cabinet fronts or made-to-measure cuttings, especially if the roof slope is steep, since PAX units are generally designed with right angles in mind.

I would like to add that sliding doors are often advantageous for attic rooms, even if slightly more expensive, because they require less space to open.I agree with that. Additionally, sliding doors are only compatible with carcasses that are 50cm (20 inches) or 58cm (23 inches) deep, not with those that are 35cm (14 inches) deep. So it is essential to check the required depth beforehand and whether the doors will fit.
It is also important to ensure that the top track for the sliding doors can be securely fastened, since in rooms with sloped ceilings, the ceiling may not be strong enough to support it.
I would simply recommend: PAX 201 cm (79 inches) high and 50 cm (20 inches) deep for better adaptation to the roof slope. Sliding doors are ideal when there is limited space for opening.
This way, you retain plenty of storage space, the wardrobe doesn’t appear too large, and it usually fits well under a sloped ceiling.

Which IKEA PAX models or carcass variants are especially suitable for attics with sloped ceilings? In conclusion, the 201 cm (79 inches) high PAX carcasses with a depth of 50 cm (20 inches) are most recommended for attics.
- Sliding doors save space but should be checked for compatibility with the chosen carcass.
- Modular interior fittings allow adjustments to sloped ceilings and room conditions.
- Customizing the fronts might be necessary if the slope is steep.
I recommend careful planning using the IKEA planning tool and precise room measurements, possibly with the help of room sketches.
