kudolauHello everyone, I am planning to install sliding doors in my Pax wardrobe and want to consider some important points to achieve the best possible result. Specifically, I am interested in which preparations are essential before installation, how to measure the doors correctly, what details to pay attention to in the mounting kit, and whether there are any factors that could affect the functionality or durability of the sliding doors. Are there also any special tips for adjusting the doors after installation? I would greatly appreciate any experiences and advice!
Here is a brief overview of what to pay attention to:
- Measure the door height and width with the utmost accuracy, ideally using a spirit level.
- Check the cabinet front for flatness and right-angled edges; unevenness can affect the sliding door track.
- Install the running rails according to the manufacturer’s instructions, often requiring fastening with screws at both the top and bottom.
- After fitting the doors, be sure to use the adjustment screws to align the doors and ensure smooth closing.
- For larger cabinets, a middle profile strip is recommended to prevent vibrations.
Errors in measuring often cause problems with door operation.

In addition to the previous advice: It is extremely important to carefully check the wall and floor before installation. During my last PAX installation, I encountered an issue where the floor was not level, which required me to adjust the rails.
I specifically recommend the following steps:
- Please double-check all measurements, especially the width of the wardrobe frame and the height from the floor to the ceiling, as even the smallest deviations can cause problems.
- Use a long spirit level or, ideally, a laser level to ensure perfect alignment.
- Make sure the running rails are complete and undamaged; small dents or scratches can affect the door’s movement.
- Install the top running rail first, but do not fully fix it in place yet to allow for later fine adjustments.
- A good installation kit includes screws and rails as well as dampers or guides, which should never be omitted.
How do you plan to finish the floor? Carpet, hardwood, or tiles? This can affect the installation.

How are you planning to finish the floor? Carpet, hardwood, or tiles? That can affect the installation. Thank you for the detailed advice and the follow-up question! The floor is currently laminate and fairly level, but I will probably add an underlayment to even out minor irregularities. Do you think that will be sufficient? I would then place it directly under the running track.

It is important that the underlayment remains pressure-resistant and permanently stable without compressing. Otherwise, the guide rail may warp or become loose. Suitable materials include firm foam or plastic boards. Make sure that the guide rail rests completely flat.Similar topics
