Hello everyone,
I recently bought an Ikea PAX wardrobe system and am currently installing the doors. However, I would like to attach the doors so that no screws are visible on the front exterior. The standard installation with the included screws doesn’t look ideal to me, especially with the modern, smooth doors.
My question is: How can I securely and stably fix Ikea PAX doors without using screws that show on the outside? Are there special fittings or alternative mounting methods I should be aware of?
I would really appreciate any tips and experiences, preferably with an explanation of how it works, and if possible, recommendations for tools or fastening materials.
Thanks in advance!

A popular method is to fix the doors from the inside using invisible fasteners such as so-called cam connectors (also known as Minifix). Thanks for the tip, that sounds reasonable. I haven’t looked into these cam connectors in detail yet.
How exactly are they installed? Do you have to drill holes in the middle of the door, or are the connectors attached at the edge? I definitely want to avoid visible drill holes on the outside later.
Also, are there differences in the quality of cam connectors? Or are the ones from Ikea already sturdy enough for the PAX doors?

How exactly are these mounted? Do you have to drill holes right through the door, or are the connectors attached at the edge?Hello Jimmy60,
Cam connectors are designed to require a hole about 15 mm (5/8 inch) in diameter on the inside face of the door, usually positioned somewhat centrally near the edge. The correct placement is well explained in Ikea’s assembly instructions.
The drilled hole is not visible from the outside because it’s on the interior side of the door, and the cam fits fully recessed into it. A second hole for the dowel is made in the cabinet carcass. When you join and turn the cam connector, the door and cabinet pull tightly together.
Ikea cam connectors are of good quality and sufficiently sturdy for normal residential use. However, if you expect very high loads, you can look for premium variants at specialist retailers, but usually Ikea’s are perfectly adequate.

The correct positioning is very well explained in Ikea’s installation manual.Absolutely! I carefully followed the manual step by step.
One more tip: If you’re unsure, drill first into a test material—this helps verify the exact position and depth! That way, you won’t accidentally drill into the shelf itself 😄
And once you’ve assembled the doors with the connectors, it looks really clean and stylish. Always remember to measure precisely!
