Good morning everyone, I have a problem with the doors of my Ikea Brimnes wardrobe that is really bothering me. The doors no longer close properly and appear crooked, causing the wardrobe contents to shift visibly. I noticed that the hinges are unevenly installed and the doors either stick or slightly vibrate when closing, which suggests incorrect adjustment. Has anyone experienced similar issues? If so, how can this be fixed permanently without completely removing the doors or damaging the wardrobe? I am also interested in knowing if there are common assembly mistakes with these Brimnes doors that I should check.

It is advisable to make the adjustments in the following order:

- First, the vertical alignment: Adjust the height of the door by loosening the vertical screws on the hinge plate and moving the door to the desired position.

- Next, the horizontal adjustment: This regulates the gap between the door and the cabinet frame. Usually, the adjustment wheel on the hinge is used to shift the door left or right.

- Finally, adjust the depth relative to the cabinet frame: This concerns the settings for how flush the door sits, whether it is perfectly aligned or slightly protruding inward or outward.

This sequence is recommended because changing the height or width initially does not affect the depth. If you start with the depth, other adjustments may shift again.

Additionally, it is important to tighten the screws after each adjustment and open and close the door several times to check its functionality.

Could the cabinet really be that affected?

Absolutely, the floor often reveals the real issues. An uneven floor can cause all the adjusted hinges to go out of alignment again, leading to annoying readjustments.

I mean, Ikea is great, but those tolerant, thin materials and quick assembly unfortunately can't work miracles. The Brimnes doors probably aren't designed for years of extremely precise fits.

It's wise to check the base: if the floor isn’t level, a small wedge under the cabinet can work wonders. Otherwise, you end up going in circles and becoming a forever screw-turner. It’s a bit like an Ikea furniture dance – just don’t lose heart!
