Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble an IKEA Hemnes shelving unit soon and would like to know in advance which problems occur most frequently. I have the impression that many people mainly have difficulties with installing the back panel or the screw connections, but I am especially interested in whether there are often fit issues or if any steps in the instructions are unclear and lead to mistakes. Who has experience with this and can specifically describe where the biggest challenges typically lie? In particular, I would like to know if the wood material or the fastening system is more often the cause of problems, and how to best prevent such errors.

- The back panel is not aligned precisely, which affects stability
- Screws are tightened either too much or too little, causing damage or instability
- The assembly sequence is not strictly followed; the instructions should be followed step by step
There are rarely major quality issues with the material itself, since HEMNES is usually made of solid pine wood, which is generally sturdy. Simple tools like a square or a clamp often help to hold parts in place during assembly and prevent misalignment.

IKEA increasingly cuts quality to reduce costsI find this statement too general. For the price range, I consider the workmanship of HEMNES acceptable. If you want truly precise work, compromises have to be made with every piece of furniture compared to professional built-in units or custom-made items.

Are you referring to a general misalignment issue or that some holes are deeper or shallower? In my case, there were rather slight misalignments, no differences in hole depth. This can usually be solved by test fitting or fine adjustments.
