GURE10Hello everyone, I would like to start a discussion on the topic "Which assembly mistakes should be avoided when building the IKEA Hemnes?" The Hemnes wardrobe is quite popular and widely used, but I have often noticed small errors during assembly that cause problems later on. I am specifically interested in which mistakes to watch out for that could affect stability or functionality. For example: How important is it to use the correct screws or to assemble the individual parts properly? Are there common errors in aligning or attaching the back panels that should be avoided? Overall, I think it would be helpful to gather tips here to ensure a smooth assembly and that the wardrobe stands securely in the end. Thanks for joining in!
What I always recommend: patience during assembly. 😅 The Hemnes has a lot of small parts – if you’re in a hurry, it’s easy to screw in a bolt the wrong way or attach a panel upside down. If you take a moment to breathe deeply during the build, everything goes much smoother!

A common mistake is that the back panel is not positioned exactly where it should be because the screws are tightened too early, which causes the furniture to become crooked. Another frequent error is assembling some components the wrong way around, as the instructions are sometimes printed quite small and the details can be easily overlooked. My advice: take your time, work step by step, and carefully compare the parts with the instructions before screwing them together. This way, you can avoid unnecessary effort.
Huge topic! I love my Hemnes, but when I first assembled it, I really messed up by installing the doors the wrong way 🙈 It took forever to take them apart again. So my tip: align the doors very carefully beforehand and make sure all the hinges are correctly positioned. This really saves a lot of frustration!
