Hello everyone,

I am planning to equip my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinets with a soft-close system and would like to know from you: What are the specific benefits of installing soft-close fittings on Metod cabinets in everyday use? I am particularly interested in aspects such as ease of use, noise levels, durability of the furniture, and any potential effects on functionality or maintenance. Perhaps someone also has practical experience regarding installation or possible limitations?

Thank you in advance for your insights!

Regarding the topic "What are the advantages of installing soft-close mechanisms in Ikea Metod cabinets?" I can contribute the following:

- Significant reduction in noise when closing cabinet doors and drawers, which enhances living comfort, especially in open-plan kitchens or small apartments.
- Protection of the furniture structure from mechanical stress, as soft closing prevents impacts. This can extend the lifespan of the hinges and cabinet fronts in the long term.
- Improved user experience: soft-close ensures a smooth and controlled closing action, increasing the perception of quality and value.
- Installation is generally compatible with existing fittings in Metod cabinets or can be retrofitted easily, although careful assembly is recommended to ensure proper function.

A downside to note is the slightly higher purchase cost compared to standard hinges and the minimal additional effort required during installation. Maintenance usually remains unchanged.

These points are based on systematic research and personal installation experience.

I completely agree. My kitchen previously had only standard hinges, and the difference is noticeable.

Additionally, I would add that soft-close mechanisms also prevent doors from slamming shut uncontrollably, which can be especially helpful with children to avoid finger injuries.

Another advantage, based on my experience, is the improved sealing of the cabinets after closing, which is particularly useful for kitchen cabinets storing food, as it better prevents drafts or dust from entering.

The only minor drawback is that some soft-close systems may lose effectiveness over time, with the quality of the components being a crucial factor.

Hello everyone!

For me, soft-close means pure relaxation in the kitchen! The gentle, almost silent closing really makes a noticeable difference in everyday life. Especially in the morning when it's still quiet, no bang disturbs the atmosphere.

You can also immediately tell that the cabinets are better protected – less adjustment is needed, and it feels like being in a higher-quality kitchen.

For those considering it: the extra effort during installation is definitely worth it.

I’m happy to answer any questions about installation tips!
