Nayla_106829 Oct 2012 23:02Hi,
have you ever wondered why the cooktop beeps?
First of all: the Framtid OV9 is the oven, NOT the cooktop! But anyway...
IKEA is a company that cares deeply about the safety of its customers. The beeping is a safety feature of the cooktops to prevent anything from being placed on them and accidentally turned on. You can probably imagine what might happen otherwise. Therefore, even if it were possible, the beeping should NEVER be turned off. If you absolutely must place a stove cover on it, these usually have rubber feet on the outer corners that do not touch the cooking zones. In that case, nothing will beep. So check the surface to see if such a foot is resting on one of the zones and move or remove it.
Best regards

Thank you for the response. I bought it as a complete unit, so there is only one name.
There are no rubber feet above the cooktop (the area that gets hot), that’s clear. But it still beeps.
What does this have to do with safety? Is there any way to turn it off? I don’t need it.
Thank you

IKEA-Experte30 Oct 2012 16:24The cover plates should have rubber feet so that the plate does not touch the control panel. The beeping is not caused by safety reasons alone. If something lies on the control panel that changes the capacitance, the cooktop thinks it is being operated but does not receive clear signals, which confuses it. That’s why it “shouts” in pain. This is not a specific feature of IKEA touch-control cooktops.
However, you can prevent the beeping by turning off the circuit breakers before placing anything on the cooktop.

Nayla_106830 Oct 2012 22:19There are rubber feet, and it still beeps. Any other alternatives? Where is the sound output located? Now there are stovetop covers, and it still beeps... oh manThe rubber feet alone are not enough. They must not rest on the control buttons or the cooking zones themselves. The rest of the surface doesn’t have sensors, so the feet can stand there.
IKEA expert, I don’t fully agree with your answer, but it doesn’t matter—that’s not the point here. The fact is, the beeping cannot be manually turned off. Maybe through the manufacturer, but I’m quite sure that would void the warranty. For insurance reasons.
