Hello everyone,
we are planning an open U-shaped kitchen for our new apartment.
We generally want to use non-IKEA appliances.
Here are a few questions:
1) Which fridge/freezer combination would fit into the 220cm (87 inch) high cabinet? Do you have any recommendations? And how do the door fronts work? As far as I understand, the upper door would open both the fridge/freezer section and the upper storage space of the tall cabinet. Is that correct? So if I want to open only the upper compartment, would the 240cm (94 inch) version be the only option?
2) The oven should be built high into the tall cabinet. From what I have read, fitting ovens into IKEA cabinets is usually less problematic. We are planning a Neff or Siemens oven here.
3) For the induction cooktop (80cm (31.5 inch), Siemens), we plan to place it centered between two 80cm (31.5 inch) cabinets. Has anyone done this before? Does it work? I assume the side panels need to be cut out a bit for this? What does the area below the cooktop look like? We want base cabinets with drawers there. Is there enough clearance for the induction cooktop?
The extractor hood will be a chimney-style hood with head clearance.
The sink will be a quartz composite one from Schock, and the dishwasher will be placed underneath. Is there anything to consider here, besides that the dishwasher needs to be an XXL model with a Vario hinge?
4) Lighting. We saw the following solution at IKEA, which we really like. However, I do not understand how the flush-mounted solution is achieved. Normally, the lights are mounted on top of the base cabinet. Do you have any idea what exactly is needed for this?

Have I missed any important points we should consider?
Thank you in advance!

Thank you for the input.
Regarding the upper cabinets, it should be noted that on the left side there will be an open corner with two shelves flush with the upper cabinet above the refrigerator. I couldn’t include this in the plan here.
The backsplash is planned as a continuous glass panel along the north side.
IKEA expert, how exactly should I imagine the refrigerator solution with the drawer?
At the bottom there is a 20cm (8 inch) drawer, above that the appliance with the two panels. However, the dimensions of the panels are larger than shown in the refrigerator drawing. Does that mean they are simply cut down, or how does that work?
Sorry if the questions seem a bit silly; I haven’t put together a kitchen before.

IKEA-Experte2 May 2016 18:00Do you also have open shelves now? For me, that would mean too much cleaning.
Having a 20cm (8-inch) drawer underneath feels like having none at all. The base on which the combination unit is placed is installed at a height so that the center between the appliance doors aligns with the gap between the cabinet doors. This causes the cabinet doors to protrude both at the top and bottom.

Ah, I see, so the tall cabinet is reserved solely for the refrigerator. OK.
Regarding the open shelves:
Yes, we currently have those as well, intended for decorative items and cookbooks, etc. There are only two shelves, after all.
The coffee machine will be placed underneath, so an open corner.
We find a tall cabinet in the corner to be impractical and it doesn’t look very nice either.

A question about the NYTTIG partition for the cooktop:
What is the cavity size that the NYTTIG creates for the cooktop?
For our preferred induction cooktop (Siemens EH845SP17E), a penetration depth of 53mm (2 inches) is required, and for overall air circulation, a minimum height of 65mm (2.5 inches) from the top of the countertop to the drawer is needed.
We are planning a HAMMARP oak countertop with 28mm (1 inch) thickness. Will that work, or should we opt for the Karlby countertop with 38mm (1.5 inches)?

IKEA-Experte5 May 2016 12:48Approximately 4 cm (1.6 inches).
I do not recommend KARLBY or other particleboard countertops with a thin wood veneer.

Hi Ikea expert,
4cm (1.5 inches) clearance from the bottom edge of the countertop to the panel of the partition?
With a countertop thickness of 28mm (1.1 inches) and a 40mm (1.6 inches) clearance, according to Siemens’ specifications, 68mm (2.7 inches) would just be acceptable, right? What’s your take on this?
