It would be great if some of you could share pictures of your terraces. With so many options available, it can be difficult to make a decision.
What materials and colors did you choose, and why? What has your experience been like after 5 years or more? How large is your terrace? What did you pay for it? Have you incorporated any features such as umbrella stands, raised garden beds, or similar elements? Did you do the work yourselves? Do you know any reliable suppliers for materials that you would recommend? What would you do differently next time?
There are surely many other homeowners who would appreciate photos and tips. Thanks in advance!

hemali200330 Jun 2019 10:10I don’t want to show anything, but I can describe how it looks.
The terrace faces west and measures 25 sq m (270 sq ft). It’s bordered with edging stones and a mowing strip made of rectangular pavers, and covered with 2 cm (0.8 inch) thick gray tiles with a wood-look finish (Hellweg, 60 euros/sq m). The tiles have a fairly pronounced texture, which makes them walkable even when wet, and they don’t heat up too much.
Currently, shading is provided by two cantilever umbrellas set in concrete sockets oriented toward the south and west. This works quite well and cost around 100 euros in total. For now, it will stay like this, as I can’t think of anything similarly flexible. Maybe later there will be larger and higher-quality umbrellas.
Otherwise, we have modern aluminum furniture (the kind upholstered with a fabric mesh, so they can be used without cushions – very practical!!) and an extra-large cushion storage box. The grill is placed on two slabs next to the terrace, which would have been too tight otherwise. But actually, it’s quite practical that way.
