SorrentoHello,
I have an IKEA kitchen with the Kvadrat fronts from 2002. To expand this for a new apartment, I bought fronts on eBay. These are also made of beech, but are more reddish than the Kvadrat ones, and the “wood panels” on the edges are noticeably wider (approximately like on Ädel Beech). At first, I suspected Kalsebo, but the width of the “wood panels” is about the same as Kvadrat.
Can anyone tell me what the designation of these new fronts was back then? They are about 4 years old.
I can also upload a photo this evening comparing these fronts with the Kvadrat ones.
Furthermore, I would like to have a tall cabinet 233cm (7 ft 8 in) high with an oven in the new kitchen. One example shows a 53cm (21 in) front at the bottom, a standard 60cm (24 in) high oven, a 9cm (3.5 in) filler panel, and a 92cm (36 in) front on top.
Can I replace the 60cm (24 in) high oven with a 45cm (18 in) high oven and install a 13cm (5 in) drawer directly beneath it? Will there be a gap, or will it fit perfectly? Is it advisable at all to have a drawer under the oven?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

HamburgFan16 Feb 2009 17:00Hello Sorrento,
I’ll give it a try. You’re right, after Kvadrat came Kalsebo. I already found Kalsebo in the 2006 catalog; in 2003 it was still called Kvadrat. I’m not aware of any other names. I seem to remember there was a supply stop at some point.
Maybe it had something to do with slightly different shades of color.
In any case, the 2008 models were sold at a lower price last year for family customers, as there apparently was another change (supplier change?). Annoying, since I also have those fronts, which I still really like.
Which house is your IKEA house? Maybe I could recommend someone to you otherwise. I think going to the showroom is a good idea, and ask employees who have been in the department for a while and remember the different fronts. They can also help you with the cabinet/stove issue. 😉
I hope I could help you a little.
If I find out anything else, I’ll get back to you!
Good luck 🙂

Which house is your IKEA house? If not, I might be able to recommend someone else to help you. I think visiting the furniture store is a good idea, and you should ask staff members who have worked in the department for a while and remember the different cabinet fronts. They can also assist you with the cabinet/stove issue. 😉
@Sorrento,
I think that’s a great suggestion! If your nearest IKEA isn’t too far, just grab the door under your arm and try your luck in the kitchen department! 😉
Maybe this way you’ll find a quick solution to the problem!
Good luck!

Thank you, I was able to find out the name of the front. It is "Ädel Birch medium brown" and has not been available for some time.
Does anyone perhaps know a source for such a front in 40x70cm (16x28 inches) or 2x 40x35cm (16x14 inches)?
Oh yes, my next furniture store is in Fürth, I’m moving just 5 km (3 miles) away and want to complement my old kitchen 😉
Best regards,
Sorrento
