Hello everyone!
We have finally bought our house, and now it’s time to plan the kitchen.
My husband has given me quite a bit of freedom; the only condition is that most of the existing kitchen furniture should be reused. At first, we thought we would have to somehow combine Metod and Faktum, which would have been an interesting result, but then I discovered the replacement parts service.
Has anyone ever ordered more than one or two pieces through it? Can you really get every little screw? (in Vienna)
What we have:
60cm (24 inches) sink base cabinet with 1 drawer
80cm (32 inches) with 3 drawers
60cm (24 inches) oven base cabinet
60cm (24 inches) drawer cabinet with internal pull-outs (I hope you know what I mean)
and the matching wall cabinets, the one above the oven is lower because of the extractor hood
I’ll now try to attach one picture, otherwise, I’ll have to describe my preliminary hand-drawn plan in words so you can imagine it. I find it very unfortunate that the old kitchen planner is no longer available.

Got it! I’ll start in the bottom left corner: freestanding refrigerator, then the large drawer units (existing), then the stove with pipe (existing), then a 40cm (16 inches) unit with 5 drawers, then the 90x90cm (35x35 inches) corner base cabinet, then either, as shown in the drawing, a 40cm (16 inches) and a 50cm (20 inches) door unit or the existing 60cm (24 inches) drawer unit and a 30cm (12 inches) bookshelf (we’ll build this ourselves, since you can’t get that at IKEA, right?), then another 90x90cm (35x35 inches) corner cabinet, then the dishwasher, after that a 60cm (24 inches) sink cabinet (existing), and finally a 40cm (16 inches) door unit.
Wall cabinets will be installed above the wide drawer units and the stove, then continue up to the end of the corner cabinet (or will that look terrible?). On the narrow side there is a window, and on the sink side a half-height wall.
For your information: I don’t need a pantry cabinet as we have a larder, and we will build the fronts ourselves; we only want to buy the carcasses, interior fittings, and hinges (what we don’t have).
Is this a feasible plan? I’ve never had corner cabinets before—do I need to watch out for anything, like the handles or something?
Thanks in advance!

Ok, so with the panels, I’ll draw it up like that! I already have 5cm (2 inches) more on the window side, so I thought I’d just make the countertop a bit deeper on the side with the sink, if you know what I mean.
Making the fronts myself: Because my husband nearly had a heart attack when we saw the prices for the fronts we wanted during our last kitchen purchase. He’s a bit of a builder and enjoys working with his CNC router and new saws, and we probably have fairly cheap access to wood. The cabinets themselves are too complex for him, but yes, he wants to make the fronts himself…

Froschkoenigin3 Sep 2015 16:10So, here is the new design:

Why is the sink placed so far to the right? Because I am left-handed and prefer to put away the dishes to the left, which I have already done, and it is much more comfortable than the other way around. That’s why there is also a 40cm (16 inch) cabinet next to it to provide some extra countertop space (otherwise this would have been a perfect spot for the trash bin, which now goes next to the refrigerator).
Regarding the two 60cm (24 inch) cabinets near the window: should I keep them as is or swap them? I’m concerned that the doors of the 60cm (24 inch) cabinets might end up blocking each other around the corner.
I called the IKEA customer service to ask if there is any way to get a parts list to make sure nothing gets forgotten (since the order is from Sweden and there will be a waiting time, etc.).
Answer: You can only hope that one of the "Faktum-experienced" staff members happens to be working in a kitchen department at the time and can help you. Otherwise, you have to compile the list yourself... Personally, I don’t think that’s great... but oh well...

IKEA-Experte3 Sep 2015 21:12Do you need doors for the 60cm (24 inch) cabinet? I only have drawers and have never missed having cabinet doors. If your husband enjoys DIY, he can also build drawers. I don’t understand why IKEA doesn’t provide a list detailing the components of each cabinet combination. You can post your shopping list here for review.

Thanks for the link
and
Thanks for the offer!!! I will almost certainly take you up on that

Things have changed a bit now—my new tenants bought the kitchen from me, so the house will have a Metod kitchen!
Best regards
