Hello,
I am currently planning a Faktum kitchen. The nearest IKEA is about 100 km (62 miles) away, and although I have already been there three times, I keep coming up with new questions. That’s why I’m glad to have found this forum, where I hope to get some of my questions answered.

So:
I intend to use most of the built-in appliances from other brands, not IKEA. In this context, I have the following questions:
- Is it possible to install a gas cooktop with an installation height of about 45 mm (1.8 inches) in the base cabinet FA186, assuming a countertop thickness of 38 mm (1.5 inches)? Would the top drawer still be usable then?
- How far back does the top drawer in the FA186 extend? For the desired gas cooktop (NEFF T66S66N0), I need some space for the gas connection under the rear right corner of the cooktop and I’m concerned the drawer might interfere. Would it be possible to shorten the top drawer or install a shorter drawer if needed?
- How much space is typically available behind the drawer in the base cabinet FA172 for a waste separation system? I need about 260 mm (10.2 inches) for a hot water boiler. Is it possible to shorten the drawer or install a shorter one if required?
- Is it possible to install a built-in microwave with an installation height of 382 mm (15 inches) in the FA719 cabinet (for example, by simply shortening the cover panel)?
- How are the dishwasher panels attached? Do these panels also fit appliances from other manufacturers (e.g., Bosch)?
- IKEA mainly offers fully integrated dishwashers (i.e., no control panel on the front). Are there also front panels for integrated dishwashers with front control panels?
- Many manufacturers require ventilation grilles in the base of tall cabinets when installing ovens. Are there such ventilation grilles available at IKEA (for example, for the FA719)?
- Does IKEA offer 11 cm (4.3 inches) high kickboards? I think I’ve seen them before, but now I can only find the 16 cm (6.3 inches) kickboards.

I know these are many questions, but I would appreciate any help in clarifying some of them here.
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
I am currently planning a Faktum kitchen. The nearest IKEA is about 100 km (62 miles) away, and although I have already been there three times, I keep having new questions. That’s why I’m glad to have found this forum, hoping to clarify some of these questions here.
So:
I intend not to use most of the built-in appliances from IKEA. In this context, I have the following questions:
- Is it possible to install a gas cooktop with an installation height of about 45 mm (1.8 inches) in the FA186 base cabinet with a countertop thickness of 38 mm (1.5 inches)? Will the top drawer still be usable then? The cooktop itself is not a problem, but you cannot install a drawer anymore.
- How far does the top drawer in the FA186 extend toward the back? I need some space for the gas connection beneath the rear right corner of the desired gas cooktop (NEFF T66S66N0), and I’m concerned the drawer might get in the way. Could you shorten the top drawer in the FA186 or install a shorter drawer if necessary? As you said, your cooktop is too deep — plus, the drawer will catch on the gas connection. Just leave the front panel as a decorative cover, then installation should not be a problem.
- How much space is there behind the drawer in the FA172 base cabinet by default for the waste sorting system? I need about 260 mm (10 inches) for a hot water boiler. Is it possible to shorten the drawer or install a shorter drawer if needed? You might fit a 60x35 cm (24x14 inches) drawer at the front, but the usefulness of that would be quite limited. I would simply use a regular door.
- Is it possible to install a built-in microwave with an installation height of 382 mm (15 inches) in the FA719 tall cabinet (for example, by simply shortening the finishing panel)? That works fine!
- How are the dishwasher front panels attached? Do they also fit appliances from other manufacturers (e.g., Bosch)? Only if a front panel of 60x70 cm (24x28 inches) or 60x57 cm (24x22 inches) fits the appliance — but that should be the case in most situations.
- IKEA mainly offers fully integrated dishwashers (i.e., no control panel on the front). Are there front panels available for semi-integrated dishwashers (i.e., with a control panel on the front)? That would be the 60x57 cm (24x22 inches) front.
- Many manufacturers require ventilation grilles in the cabinet base when installing ovens in tall cabinets. Are such ventilation grilles available from IKEA (e.g., for the FA719)? The ventilation grilles are usually included with the appliance but should also be orderable through customer service if needed.
- Does IKEA also offer 11 cm (4.3 inches) high kickboards? I think I saw these once but can now only find the 16 cm (6.3 inches) kickboards. There are only the Capita EST legs with 11 cm (4.3 inches); in this case, you would have to shorten the kickboard and then attach it directly to the carcass with brackets or similar.
I know these are many questions, but I would appreciate clarifying some of them here.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I am currently planning a Faktum kitchen. The nearest IKEA is about 100 km (62 miles) away, and although I have already been there three times, I keep having new questions. That’s why I’m glad to have found this forum, hoping to clarify some issues here.
So:
I intend to use most of the built-in appliances not from IKEA. In this context, I have the following questions:
- Is it possible to install a gas cooktop with a built-in height of about 45 mm (1.8 inches) in the FA186 base cabinet, with a countertop thickness of 38 mm (1.5 inches)? Will the top drawer still be usable then?
- How far back does the top drawer in the FA186 extend? For the selected gas cooktop (NEFF T66S66N0), I need some space under the rear right corner for the gas connection and am concerned that the drawer might interfere. If necessary, could the top drawer in the FA186 be shortened or replaced with a shorter drawer?

If you install a gas cooktop in the FA186, the following points must be considered: The upper front remains blind, attached to the carcass only with brackets. The two lower drawers may ONLY be fitted with 35 cm (14 inches) deep drawers or doors. Ideally, the back panel should be removed and the cabinet base slightly notched out.

- How much space is there typically behind the drawer in the FA172 base cabinet for the waste separation system? I need about 260 mm (10 inches) for a hot water boiler. Can the drawer be shortened or replaced with a shorter one if necessary?

If you want to install waste sorting, the lower drawer has a depth of 45 cm (18 inches). 35 cm (14 inches) won’t really help. Alternatively, just use doors and attach the small bins directly to them.

- Is it possible to install a built-in microwave with a built-in height of 382 mm (15 inches) in the FA719 cabinet (e.g., by simply shortening the finishing panel)?

The 60 x 9.4 cm (24 x 3.7 inches) panel is intended for the base cabinet under the cooktop and as a filler panel on the tall cabinet. You shorten it to the required height and seal the cut edge with the supplied edging tape.

- How are the dishwasher panels attached? Do they also fit models from other manufacturers (e.g., Bosch)?

In principle, they fit. The mounting hardware is only included with the dishwasher itself.

- IKEA essentially only offers fully integrated dishwashers (meaning no control panel on the front). Are there also front panels available for integrated dishwashers (with a control panel on the front)?
- Many manufacturers require ventilation grilles in the cabinet base when installing ovens in tall cabinets. Are such ventilation grilles available from IKEA (e.g., for the FA719)?
- Does IKEA also offer 11 cm (4.3 inches) plinths? I think I’ve seen them before, but now I can only find 16 cm (6.3 inches) plinths.

I know these are many questions, but I would appreciate any help clarifying them here.
Thank you in advance.

Hello,

- Many manufacturers require ventilation grilles in the cabinet base when installing ovens in tall cabinets. Does IKEA offer such ventilation grilles as well (e.g., for the FA719)?

IKS

It is included with the cabinet, not the appliance. (Spare part no. 106177)
