Hello everyone,

I have designed and purchased an L-shaped kitchen. Unfortunately, I am struggling with one detail. I have a corner base cabinet measuring 128x68x80 cm (50x27x31 inches). The first module after the corner is a dishwasher (LAGAN). Unfortunately, the countertop does not rest on it and is "floating." Because of this, the connection between the two countertops looks very unsightly. What can I do about this? The whole kitchen feels very unstable because the countertops are not connected and do not rest on the dishwasher.

Thank you

Hello,
based on the measurements, you have a Metod kitchen, not Faktum.
Is there a cabinet after the dishwasher that supports the countertop, or is the dishwasher at the end?
Is it a Personlig countertop with a finished corner joint, or are you using the FIXA joining strip?

Hello. That’s true, it’s a method, not a fact. Arranged as follows in an L shape:
Base cabinet – base cabinet – corner cabinet – built-in dishwasher – base cabinet – stove

I planned the kitchen together with an Ikea associate, but due to the connections, the dishwasher had to be installed as the first module after the corner at short notice. The countertop joint (Ekbacken) was not delivered. During assembly, I also couldn’t use the rail system because the walls are only drywall (plasterboard).

Especially when there are no fixed walls, the rail is advantageous.
The FIXA joint strip does not work well with EKBACKEN, as EKBACKEN has sharp edges. You can check your local hardware store to see if they have a suitable strip or create a corner joint using Lamello connectors and countertop fasteners.
Another alternative, which I am not entirely fond of, could be to use, for example, three perforated plates measuring 200 x 60 mm (7.9 x 2.4 inches), screwed from underneath to the panels.

But then the entire weight rests on the rail and the front legs. I’m afraid the wall won’t be able to support it.

Even when using a track, I would use 4 feet. When attaching the track, it should definitely be fixed to the substructure as well.
