Hello everyone, I recently bought the IKEA Malm nightstand and I'm wondering how to best prevent stains on the surface. Since the top is either lacquered or covered with a film, I’m unsure which materials should be avoided and whether any special protective measures can be used to prevent stains from drinks, cosmetics, or other everyday items. Are there any tried-and-tested tips, tricks, or products you would recommend to keep the nightstand clean and stain-free for as long as possible? Thanks in advance for your experiences!

Good additions, thanks! So it will probably come down to using a protective film combined with coasters and quick cleaning. Does anyone have experience with how to remove water stain marks from film or lacquered surfaces? Occasionally, I notice some faint marks like that, even when I wipe quickly.

Has anyone had experience removing water stains from plastic sheeting or painted surfaces?Water stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth. If that is not enough, a mixture of water and a drop of vinegar may help. Avoid using abrasive cleaners at all costs, as they can damage the surface.
