Hello everyone,

I have a washbasin cabinet that is 60cm (24 inches) wide but unfortunately only 42cm (17 inches) deep. Now I would like to buy this base cabinet:

White washbasin with integrated sink, modern faucet, and two drawers.

Godmorgon / Odensvik
Washbasin cabinet/2 drawers, white

Does anyone know if it’s possible to manually reduce the depth by about 10cm (4 inches)? I have the necessary DIY skills, but I’m not sure if that would involve modifying the metal drawer slides...

Could someone help?

Best regards
Johnny

Hi Johnyy,

the problem will be the trap and/or the connections.

Behind the bottom drawer of the GODMORGEN with a width of 100cm (39 inches), you only have 10cm (4 inches) of space. If you shorten the cabinet on the sides, which is basically easy to do, then nothing can be installed in that area—no drain, no angle valve, nothing.
The drawer above is shorter, but you will still have to modify it.

Last week I remodeled my 100cm (39 inches) Godmorgon because I didn’t want to install the IKEA trap with the low-quality drain plate; instead, I chose a push-to-open drain fitting. Overall, with the connection for the overflow, I ended up so low that I had to rebuild it.
