Hello,

Unfortunately, I cannot find the installation instructions for the Godmorgon bathroom light on the IKEA website. The product itself also does not include any paper instructions.

Could someone please help me with this?

What I noticed about the mirrored cabinet:
The electrical cable exits the wall exactly behind the mirrored cabinet. If I try to route the cables upward, they get pinched because there is no opening provided for the cables to pass through. I now have to drill or cut a passage, which interferes with securing the mirror film— not ideal.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can provide helpful advice!

Best regards,

The electrical part is relatively easy. But why should I explain how it works now? Let others be frustrated with the lamp the same way. The rail system is also very simple. But I’m not going to write instructions for Ikea. Some people can figure out the electrical connection themselves. Maybe it wouldn’t have caused problems if there had been instructions ))) — seriously though, the electrical connection can be unplugged and it’s clearly labeled. The rail can be installed once you remove the side panels, but that only works if there’s enough space outside.

However, it is completely irresponsible of IKEA to sell this lamp without any instructions. I think once the first people get an electric shock, IKEA will respond.

Hello,
The rail can be used if you remove the side panels, but this only works if there is enough space outside.

How do you remove the side panels of the lamp to slide the lamp onto the rail?

Dear IKEA enthusiasts,

Godmorgon, part two: An issue mentioned earlier is causing me quite some trouble. In my case, the cable outlets are positioned directly behind the mirror at the center, and on one hand, they would need to be bent to the side so they can be connected to the light on the left; however, the cables are very stiff and difficult to bend. On the other hand, I would have to pinch the wires because Godmorgon does not provide a pass-through opening in the middle.

As my username suggests, I am relying on your help and experience. Many thanks in advance!

I'm almost at my wit's end with this lamp. To get it to light upwards, I mounted the strip the other way around. But it won't snap into the track. I try to insert the box at an angle from below (large part of the track) and then hinge it towards the smaller part. Unfortunately, the box doesn’t lock into place.

P.S. I had instructions included (Ikea Switzerland, February 2012)

I think this Godmorgon light was designed by the devil himself! Aside from the most fiddly electrical connection I have ever encountered and the lack of cable entry options if the cable does not come directly out of the wall behind the junction box, I was never able to snap the lamp onto the mounting bracket.

According to the instructions, you just slightly tilt it from above, press down, and you should hear a CLICK as it locks in. But no matter what angle I tried and how hard I pressed, there was never any CLICK!

The lamp was only held in place by the thin double-sided adhesive tape on the mounting element. And that promptly caused the lamp to fall loudly in the middle of the night!

So I guess I’ll have to struggle with it again this weekend. Maybe the secret is to completely remove the adhesive tape since it’s not even shown in the instructions.

Alternatively, the adhesive tape might have been added later as an insufficient fix for common problems with the lamp locking in.

If anyone who has managed to do it has a tip, I’d really appreciate it…
