I have a set of four IKEA Inreda spotlights that I want to connect directly to the main power supply. There is a connection for a power cord to the socket.

Can I connect the transformer directly to the power cable? I hope so, but I’m not sure how.

Can someone help me with this?
Thanks,
Trixiheise

I found this:
Ansluta power cord - IKEA

It seems I can use this to connect the transformer to a socket.
Could I cut the cable before the toggle switch and connect it directly to the power supply?

Are the halogen spotlights built into the furniture? There are also LED bulbs available for halogen sockets.

Regarding permissibility: This system is plug-and-play and approved for that use. Once you cut off the plug and choose a different wiring method, the warranty becomes void and you are responsible for any resulting damages.
The cable cross-section itself is fine because whether it’s a socket or a fixed connection, the same current applies.
The type of cable relates to how it is installed—whether concealed (in-wall), surface-mounted, or inside a hollow wall. Ansluta is intended for surface-mounted installation or cable ducts.

Another solution would be to install the female connector of the Ansluta connection cable at the wall outlet; then you could plug the set directly in there without cutting the cable or making structural changes.

How do I need to connect this?
Do I have to disconnect the plug on one side after all?

Yes, that’s the cable I mean.
But don’t cut off any plug.
One plug goes into the transformer, and for the free plug find the appropriate counterpart connector.
Then attach this plug to the wall outlet.
This should be easier since the wires are already stripped and, being just wire, don’t need ferrules.
This way you have a clean plug connection; plug it in and it should light up.

Ikea doesn’t have a suitable plug for this 🙁

At Ikea, they immediately told me: just cut it off

Finding a suitable counterpart is probably not that easy. Such a construction seems questionable to me and not compliant with VDE standards. We have no idea what the installation looks like on site. Everyone here probably has a different idea in mind.
I can only say: get an electrician you trust.
