Hello everyone,
I am currently facing the task of replacing the rollers on my Pax sliding door system, and I am looking for a detailed guide on the best way to proceed.
The doors have not been running smoothly for some time, and I suspect that the rollers are worn or damaged. I feel that this is not a straightforward job, as I don’t want to damage the door, but at the same time, I need to access the rollers without having to completely dismantle everything.
Specifically, I am interested in the following points:
- How can I safely lift the doors out of the track system?
- Are there any special tools or materials I should have ready?
- What safety aspects should I pay particular attention to?
- How exactly do I replace the rollers, and what should I be especially careful about?
I have watched some YouTube videos, but they are often very general or meant for different types of doors. So if anyone here has experience with the Pax sliding door system or can share tips from their own experience, I would be very grateful for detailed advice.
Thanks in advance!

reoleon4722 Jul 2022 09:11Hey fatima,
great to see you’re taking a close interest in this subject! 😃 Replacing the rollers on Pax doors is definitely doable if you follow a clear process and know the right steps.
First: You need to carefully lift the door out of the track. Usually, the rollers are attached at the top in a sort of bracket that can be unlocked. It’s important to hold the door firmly or, ideally, work with a second person—the weight is easy to underestimate!
You don’t need many tools: a Phillips screwdriver, possibly a small flathead, and some WD-40 in case the screws are stuck. Safety tip: wearing safety glasses might be helpful, and make sure nothing rolls away or falls down.
The replacement itself: unscrew the old rollers, buy new ones (original spare parts are best, you can really notice the difference). Install the new rollers, screw them in firmly, put the door back in place, and you’re done!
Don’t get discouraged, this is a great DIY project—good luck!

Hi fatima,
I can definitely confirm reoleon47’s impression and want to add a bit of a relaxed vibe here 😉
The most important thing is to securely fix the door. Personally, I always place a thick blanket on the floor in case the door slips or you need to set it down. This protects both the door and you.
Typically, the rollers on Pax doors are found in a small compartment at the top of the door, sometimes held in place with a small clip or screw – make sure to check carefully! If the rollers don’t turn, a little penetrating oil helps, but don’t overdo it.
Good handling requires a bit of patience. And hey, if you feel clumsy sometimes: always take a break and proceed step by step 😊.
I wish you lots of success with this and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

Hello fatima,
I would like to add a structured approach here that should help you when replacing the rollers on your Pax sliding door system:
1. Preparation:
- Find a sufficiently large and safe workspace, preferably softly padded (e.g., with blankets), since the glass doors are delicate.
- Gather the appropriate tools: Phillips screwdriver, possibly an Allen key, and some light lubricant.
2. Removing the door:
- Open the door to about 45 degrees.
- Carefully lift the door out of the upper track by gently pushing it upward and then tilting it sideways. Often, the upper rollers are held in place by clips that can be released.
- Be careful not to jam or drop the door.
3. Replacing the rollers:
- The rollers are usually fastened with small screws or clips.
- Remove the fasteners and replace the old rollers with new ones—it is recommended to use original replacement parts.
- When installing, ensure the rollers move freely and smoothly.
4. Reinstalling the door:
- Hang the door back into the track, starting with the top, then tilt the door slightly and guide it into the bottom track.
- Adjust the door using the adjustment screws on the rollers until it runs quietly and smoothly.
Common mistakes:
- Installing the rollers upside down.
- Tightening screws too much, which can block the roller.
- Not hanging the door properly, causing it to jam.
If anything is unclear, I’m happy to help.

One follow-up question: Do I need to adjust or fine-tune the rollers after installation, or is it sufficient to simply tighten the screws? During test operation, I imagine the smoothness of movement or the height might still need some optimization?
The doors do have adjustment options on the rollers, but I’m not sure how important that is or what effects an incorrect adjustment could have.
Also, I’d like to know if the old rollers can cause damage to the track if I delay replacing them for too long.

Do I need to adjust or fine-tune the rollers after installation, or is it enough to just screw them in firmly? This is a very important question. In fact, the rollers should not only be replaced but also properly adjusted. The adjustment screws on the rollers allow you to regulate the height and lateral position of the door. This is crucial to ensure:
- smooth guidance within the track
- no friction points or binding
- quiet sliding operation
- and an exact fit when closing the door.
If the rollers are only firmly screwed in but not adjusted, the door may hang unevenly or get stuck, which can lead to further damage over time.
Regarding your second question about damage to the track: worn or damaged rollers can indeed leave marks on the track, especially if they run unevenly or expose metal parts. Therefore, it is advisable to carry out the replacement as soon as possible.
My advice: after installing the new rollers, open and close the door multiple times while it is still in place, fine-tuning the adjustment until the operation is smooth and quiet. This may take some time but is definitely worthwhile.
