Hello everyone, I am currently facing the challenge of how to best optimize the limited storage space in my rather compact Ikea Metod kitchen. The kitchen is not very large but is sufficient if the available storage space is used smartly. I am especially interested in tips and tricks on how to create more space through practical interior fittings, pull-outs, organizers, or clever arrangements of wall cabinets and base cabinets, so that kitchen utensils and food items are well stored yet easily accessible. Solutions for frequently used items are also important to me, so that the workflow in the kitchen is not disrupted. Perhaps you have experience with specific Ikea system accessories or custom modifications that really increase storage capacity? I look forward to your suggestions!

Hi! There are great inserts for drawers that are often overlooked. For example, knife blocks, spice racks, and dividers for cutlery and kitchen tools – these create real order and save space. Additionally, you can install small hanging racks under wall cabinets for frequently used utensils. This keeps the countertop clear and makes everything feel less cramped. Good luck experimenting!

Exactly, and if you install small hooks for cups or small holders inside the wall cabinets, you can really make good use of the space.

An important topic for me remains usability versus pure capacity. When the system becomes too complex, users often lose track because many small containers and inserts break up the storage space. A clear structure is especially important with Ikea Metod to avoid getting lost in the details. Therefore, regularly sized, well-dimensioned drawers are preferable to dozens of small inserts that only shift the chaos around.

Absolutely right! I would also add that it’s best to create a list of categories for the items you really want to store before planning. This way, the interior fittings and drawer sizes can be tailored precisely. For example, bottles, dishes, pots, dry goods, etc. This keeps the kitchen practical and organized.

Hey! I'm really impressed by how much you can get out of a small Metod kitchen! Definitely use flexible pull-outs that you can customize to your needs. Also, try using vertical dividers in drawers – they create space for cutting boards or baking trays! I think it's really fun when everything is so well organized 😄!

Maybe of interest to you: Use adjustable shelves in the cabinets. This way, you can make optimal use of the vertical space, especially for tall items. Ikea offers suitable accessories that are easy to install.
