Hello everyone,
I have a question about cleaning my matte IKEA Metod kitchen cabinet fronts. I’ve noticed that conventional cleaning products often cause discoloration or stains that are difficult to remove. Therefore, I would like to know the best way to clean matte fronts without causing unwanted discoloration. Are there specific cleaning agents or techniques that are particularly gentle yet effective against grease, fingerprints, and other dirt? I want to avoid dulling or staining the surfaces with harsh chemicals.
Thank you in advance for your tips!

Can anyone share information about the effectiveness of citric acid as a cleaner?Oh yes, I experienced the same! After using too much citric acid once on my matte kitchen surfaces, unsightly discoloration appeared. Often, the only remedy is very light sanding – not a great solution. So better not to take the risk 😊.

In summary, I will:
- use only mild dish soap diluted in water
- use gentle microfiber cloths
- avoid cleaners containing alcohol or acids as much as possible
- wipe down with clean water after cleaning and dry thoroughly
If you have any specific recommendations for brands or types of furniture polishes that are matte and not glossy, please share! Thanks again!

Good morning!
For matte surfaces, there are special care products without wax or gloss enhancers. Look for so-called "matte care" or "matte finish care." These are ideal, keep the surface looking fresh, and protect against new dirt without damaging the matte finish.
Apply sparingly and spread generously but gently with a soft cloth. This has worked very well for me so far. Good luck!

REOHEINRIC19 May 2018 09:14In addition to cleaning, it is advisable to occasionally remove dust from the surfaces, as dust combined with dirt can cause scratches if improper cleaning methods are used. Use dry, soft microfiber cloths for this purpose.
After cleaning, always dry thoroughly to prevent water spots on these matte surfaces.
