Hello everyone,
I am currently planning to create a walk-in closet solution using several Ikea PAX wardrobes in my bedroom. I want to assemble the classic PAX series in a way that forms a walk-in closet, meaning multiple wardrobes placed side by side, possibly with a corner unit.
Specifically, I’m interested in:
- What is the best way to securely connect the modules together?
- Are there any special connectors or accessories from Ikea or third-party providers that help build this kind of setup effectively?
- What should I pay attention to when installing, especially regarding alignment, anchoring to the wall, and door handling to ensure everything operates smoothly afterward?
I have already purchased the PAX frame sets (each 100 x 60 x 236 cm (39 x 24 x 93 inches)) along with some shelving units and drawers. I have experience assembling furniture, but I haven’t built a walk-in closet configuration before.
I would greatly appreciate any tips or even detailed instructions!

The Pax wardrobes are modular, meaning for a walk-in solution you connect them using the included connectors and secure everything to the wall. Corners usually need to be reinforced with your own brackets. Adjust the doors before final fixing to ensure everything works smoothly.

How should one proceed to securely connect the modules together? For stabilization, it is recommended to use the original PAX connectors at least twice per cabinet joint. Additionally, thoughtful wall mounting with appropriate anchors is advisable, especially on drywall.
Furthermore:
- Level out any floor unevenness by shimming under the cabinets.
- Reinforce corners or L-shaped configurations with extra brackets, as Ikea does not provide complete solutions for these setups.

essential for stability when using the PAX range as a walk-in closet. That sums it up well. Independent reinforcements significantly improve safety and durability.
I would also suggest carefully reading the Ikea assembly instructions, but not following them rigidly when it comes to walk-in applications.
