Hello everyone, I am considering using my IKEA Besta shelving unit as a DIY workbench and would like to hear your opinions and experiences. Specifically, I am interested in how to improve its stability, which materials are suitable for a work surface, and whether the Besta system is even appropriate for more heavy-duty workshop tasks or if it is too fragile for that. I am also looking for tips on how to optimally combine storage and workspace without having to buy expensive workbenches. Looking forward to constructive feedback!

And build a practical work surface with pegboards or magnetic tool holders right above the Besta; it saves space and is really enjoyable to use 🙂

Also, make sure to secure the workbench well, if possible. That makes sense. My room has a solid wall where I could attach the shelf on the side. Can you give advice on the best way to do this without damaging the shelf?
