Hello everyone, I am currently working on maintaining my Ikea Besta drawers and wondering which tools have proven truly helpful to ensure smooth operation. Specifically, I am interested in tools that make it easier to adjust the drawers, tighten screws, and lubricate the runners. Are there any specially recommended tools or tool sets that you use for maintaining these drawers to save time and avoid damage? I look forward to your experiences and recommendations!

Usually, a Phillips screwdriver and a lubricant (e.g., WD-40) are sufficient. With these, you can tighten screws and lightly lubricate the sliding rails.

I would also suggest adding a small Allen key. Some Ikea BESTA drawers have screws or adjustment options with hexagonal sockets, which are much easier to handle using an Allen key.

I recommend a systematic maintenance routine in three steps: - First, tighten all screws with a suitable Phillips or Torx screwdriver to prevent loose connections. - Next, spray the drawer slides with a special silicone spray or Teflon spray (I would only use WD-40 for cleaning, not as a long-term lubricant). - If the drawers have adjustment levers or screws, a small Allen key set is essential, ideally with sizes from 2 to 5 mm. In addition to the standard tools, a sturdy combination plier can sometimes be useful to loosen or adjust tightly stuck parts. This helps prevent damage regardless of your DIY experience.

I got a camera with a macro function to better inspect screw holes and guide rails. Mechanically: screwdriver, Allen key, lubricant, and a small cloth for excess grease – that's completely sufficient.

A small key for adjusting the drawer sides is helpful. Otherwise: WD-40 and a Phillips screwdriver, nothing else.
