Hello everyone,
I am currently deeply involved in planning our new kitchen. After visiting some kitchen showrooms, it’s now clear: we will go with an IKEA kitchen. I find the entire system very convincing and am already quite excited about it.
This time, we are considering not using a standard stainless steel sink but something different—namely, a quartz composite sink.
Does anyone have experience with such a sink and could share the differences compared to stainless steel?
- For example, it would be interesting to know how it looks if it’s not wiped dry every time. Stainless steel can look quite unpleasant in those cases.
- There are also concerns whether it’s easier to break a glass or cup in a quartz composite sink, while it might have survived in a stainless steel sink.
- Maybe someone can also share their experience with factory installation in Personlig countertops. Is it really better than installing it yourself, for example?
We want to use a solid wood oak countertop and are thinking of HÄLLVIKEN in black (the one with the 1.5 bowls). That might match well with the black cooktop.
Thanks in advance… and you have a very nice forum here!
Best regards

Dear Ikea fans, dear Phili,
I am currently facing exactly the same question and wanted to try this thread again.
Phili: What did you end up choosing? And are you satisfied?
Has anyone else had experience with Ikea’s quartz composite sink? We are torn between black and white.
I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences!

Hi Curry,
Yes, we ultimately bought a black quartz composite sink. However, we wanted a remote control for the drain stopper, so it ended up not being one from Ikea. But in terms of material, ours seems to be exactly the same.
We are very satisfied! It always looks good, even if it’s cleaned less often. No comparison to stainless steel.
Also, the material is nearly indestructible. However, I can’t say anything about a white one. That might be more prone to discoloration.
Ikea is currently completely overhauling their sink range. Hellvikiken is supposed to remain! I can provide more details next week.

Hello Philli,
I have a Personlig countertop with a factory-installed Hällviken sink. I don’t have long-term experience yet, as it’s only been installed for a few days and I’m not living in the apartment yet, but I think it looks very good and is perfectly finished from the factory.
@Curry: My former parents-in-law have a white quartz composite sink, which after about 1 1/2 years is already showing slight discoloration – that’s why I chose a black one.
Best regards,
Werner

In some houses, it may no longer be available. That’s not entirely correct. The Hällviken models remain in the product range and are still available as undermount sinks. Hopefully, the confusion caused by the sink changeover will clear up soon. I would lean towards a black one, as in my opinion the white always looks like it has dust on it.
Best regards
