Hello everyone,
In my frustration while searching for a solution, I came across this forum – really great!
Since we are moving and will be switching from our Faktum kitchen to the Metod system, we are currently facing a small problem. Maybe someone here has a design idea.
My main concern is the possibility of placing the freezer drawer under the cooktop. Unfortunately, I don’t see any other option, as we definitely do not want the combi oven to be at crawling height.
I also considered removing the corner cabinet and placing the freezer drawer there, but the wall is 181cm (71 inches) long. Would that be too tight if the cabinets are installed corner to corner? Or does someone have another idea?
I will upload the planning pictures shortly, as I’m not sure if the link will work. We don’t want the appliances from IKEA, except perhaps the freezer drawer.
Thank you very much and best regards
Alex

Hello Alex!
I have a question: if the freezer is supposed to go under the cooktop, where will the refrigerator be placed? I only see space under the combination oven, or have you planned it somewhere else?
Also, is the water connection exactly as shown in the plan, or is there some flexibility?
Regards

IKEA-Freund10 Aug 2015 08:54Hello,
regarding installing other appliances under the cooktop, Neff states in the installation manual:
Best regards,
IKEA-Freund
regarding installing other appliances under the cooktop, Neff states in the installation manual:
Installation underneath: do not install refrigeration appliances, dishwashers, unventilated ovens, or washing machines underneath. Modular/compact dishwashers of the same brand can be installed underneath. Countertop thickness must then be at least 40 mm (1.6 inches).
Best regards,
IKEA-Freund
Hi IKEA-Friend and Hi Jace,
First of all, thank you very much for your support.
The planning is really giving me a headache. The wall is completely unnecessary in the apartment.
Because of this annoying limiting wall, the space is only 1.81 m long (6 feet).
I had already thought about placing the freezer compartment (60 cm) (24 inches) next to the tall cabinet (60 cm) (24 inches) (side panels in the Ringhult white series are already 63 cm (25 inches), or 61.5 cm (24 inches) if there is only one side panel on the right)... but will it still fit exactly?
Will I be able to open the doors?
On the right side, there would only be about 2 or 3 cm (1 inch) left.
"I have a question: if the freezer is supposed to go under the cooktop, where will the refrigerator go?

- Correct, we planned the refrigerator to be under the oven.
And is the water connection exactly as shown in the plan, or is there some flexibility?
- There is some flexibility. The pipe goes straight up fairly close to the wall, and there is also some space to the right. I also considered a 45 cm (18 inches) dishwasher and a smaller sink cabinet, but that didn’t really work well.
@ IKEA-Friend: Do you think this also applies to the "smaller" freezer compartment? There would be some extra "air" or space above. Sorry, I’m just looking for options.

IKEA-Experte10 Aug 2015 21:35Hello,
it’s too hot today to think clearly. I can't come up with a convincing idea.
I don’t find the oven below the cooktop that bad, especially if it has telescopic runners or a pull-out tray. The freezer is also at crawling height.
Is the cooktop really not supposed to be induction?
Tall cabinet stays where it is
next to it open space
Along the long wall:
60cm (24 inches) base cabinet
freezer
60cm (24 inches) base cabinet with sink
60cm (24 inches) dishwasher
128cm (50 inches) corner cabinet
80cm (31 inches) base cabinet

Regarding induction, we are still not entirely sure (or rather... we somehow don’t fully trust it). The plan with the 128 cm (50 inches) corner cabinet doesn’t look bad either, but the empty space next to it is something I’m still not quite comfortable with.
We just visited IKEA again and took another look in person. If anyone is still thinking about buying Metod at the “old” price, they should hurry. According to the sales assistant, the weekend will be the last chance. So our planning needs to be finalized by then as well.
