Hello community, I currently have some IKEA Metod corner cabinets installed in my kitchen, but I feel like I’m not using the storage space optimally. Corner cabinets generally offer a lot of space, but when it comes to the interior layout and accessibility, they are more challenging than straight cabinets.

My specific question is: How can I improve the storage capacity of IKEA Metod corner cabinets to make them both practical and efficient? Are there any special built-in solutions or modifications you would recommend to better organize the kitchen utensils stored inside? I’m grateful for any tips, including suggestions on materials or accessories that help maximize the available space.

The space optimization in IKEA Metod corner cabinets mainly relies on the use of rotating shelves or carousels. These allow better access to the rear areas, which are otherwise difficult to reach. Furthermore, combining adjustable shelves with internal drawers is effective for maximizing the use of vertical space. Hidden drawer solutions and metal corner cabinet hinges are also recommended, as they are both sturdy and durable.

Use LeMans pull-outs or corner carousels. They improve visibility and make operating cabinets in corners easier.

I installed pull-out shelves inside my Metod corner cabinet and also used narrow shelf dividers. This keeps everything well organized and fully accessible.

Thank you for the tip! Do you have a recommendation on whether it’s better to go with IKEA’s own products for these systems, or do third-party options often offer better quality and storage efficiency? Also, I’m curious if these swing-out shelves are compatible with the standard cabinet depth of Metod.

Basically, IKEA products are precisely sized and easy to install, especially designed for Metod. Third-party suppliers sometimes offer more durable materials and better functionality, such as steel instead of plastic, which can be advantageous in the long run. Compatibility should be carefully checked before purchase, as deviations in measurements can lead to installation problems.
