Hello everyone, I am currently planning an IKEA Platsa wardrobe for a room with a sloped ceiling. My question is: Are there any assembly tips that are especially helpful for installing Platsa units under sloped ceilings? I am particularly interested in how to best adapt the modules to the angled ceiling without having to do a lot of cutting or modifications. What experiences have you had to ensure the wardrobe is stable but still looks good? I look forward to your advice and practical tips, including any tricks that should not be forgotten.

If I were you, I would first measure precisely where the slope begins and use angles to adjust the modules accordingly. It often helps to fit the upper parts with mitre cuts. Also, make sure to secure the cabinets firmly to the wall and floor.

Great topic! 😊 I built my Platsa unit under the sloped ceiling and can only say: with the right planning, it works really well! My tip: measure everything precisely and make sketches showing the slope’s angle. I used small wooden strips as supports under the shelves to prevent damage from the slope and keep everything stable. Good luck, you can do it! 👍

For installing IKEA Platsa units under sloped ceilings, I recommend first taking precise measurements of the side dimensions and determining the maximum height at the lowest point of the slope. Custom-made filler panels or accurately cut top panels and side walls are suitable for adjusting the upper cabinets. It is important that all furniture parts directly adjacent to the slope are securely and firmly fixed; angle brackets or screw fastenings to the ceiling and wall provide sufficient support. Using installation aids such as angle squares or contour gauges can significantly simplify cutting and fitting.

Exactly, as much as I hate to say it, without drawings, working under the sloped ceiling quickly turns into a fiddly job. 😉

I also recommend not fastening the cabinet components permanently right away, but assembling them loosely at first – this way you can still adjust the shelves and carcasses flexibly to the slope until everything fits perfectly. And don’t worry about cutting: Once you have the right tools, it’s actually quite enjoyable!

Thank you for the tip! Could you or someone else briefly explain the best way to make these filler panels yourself and which materials are suitable? IKEA doesn’t provide specific parts for sloped ceilings, right? I’m also interested in how to attach the filler panels to the Platsa units so that everything is stable and looks good in the end.
