Hello everyone, I am currently planning an IKEA Platsa wardrobe for a room with a sloped ceiling. My question is: Are there any assembly tips that are especially helpful for installing Platsa units under sloped ceilings? I am particularly interested in how to best adapt the modules to the angled ceiling without having to do a lot of cutting or modifications. What experiences have you had to ensure the wardrobe is stable but still looks good? I look forward to your advice and practical tips, including any tricks that should not be forgotten.

For mounting, a concealed system is recommended, such as mounting brackets or thin screws attached to the back of the panel and engaging with the cabinet carcasses. It is important to ensure precise measurements to avoid gaps. Since IKEA does not offer special components for sloped ceilings, custom sizing is the best solution. Alternatively, narrow edge strips can help visually integrate the panels with the Platsa style.

For fastening, a concealed system is recommended, such as mounting brackets or thin screwsI can only agree with that. For my Platsa under the sloped ceiling, I used very small, sturdy metal brackets installed inside – they are hardly visible but hold very well.
It helped me to precisely measure the roof slope using a bevel gauge and then cut it with a very fine saw blade – it worked really well and wasn’t that difficult! If you make a wrong cut, don’t worry, at Platsa you can often save a lot with small adjustments. Don’t stress, every tip will help you move forward! 😊

A spirit level and a longer ruler or straightedge can help compensate for unevenness. Ventilation behind the cabinets should also be considered to prevent moisture damage. Local conditions can have a significant impact on stability and durability.

Local conditions can have a significant impact on stability and durabilityThank you for your detailed contribution. I hadn’t considered ventilation at all. Is there a general rule of thumb for the minimum distance to leave from the wall or sloping ceiling, or is it more about overall air circulation in the area? Also, a quick question for everyone: do you use base plates or feet for Platsa units on sloped ceilings to compensate for uneven floors?
