Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble an Ikea Platsa wardrobe and am looking for an app that supports the assembly process. Is there an application that, besides the basic assembly instructions, also offers helpful features like a 3D view, step-by-step guidance, tool lists, or customization options? I am mainly interested in an app that simplifies the assembly and minimizes potential errors. Does anyone have experience or recommendations?

Officially, Ikea offers an app called Ikea Place, which allows you to virtually place furniture, but there does not seem to be a dedicated assembly app specifically for PLATSA at the moment.
Alternatively, the Ikea instruction app is recommended, which contains all assembly manuals as PDFs, including step-by-step instructions. There is no official solution for 3D models or interactive displays; however, detailed tutorial videos can often be found in forums and on platforms like YouTube.
Summary:
- Official assembly manuals as PDFs in the Ikea app
- No dedicated app for PLATSA assembly
- Videos as an alternative aid
If that would be helpful, I can gladly provide links to certain instructions.

The Ikea Place app is helpful for planning, but it doesn’t support actual assembly. I’ve searched for apps specifically covering PLATSA or similar cabinet systems with interactive instructions.
One option is apps like "Magicplan" or "Roomle," which create 3D room models, but even these don’t really aid with direct furniture assembly.
Conclusion: For specific assembly assistance, basically only the original written or video instructions are available—there are no specialized apps with live interactive guidance.
A few thoughts on assembly apps for Ikea PLATSA:
Since PLATSA is modular and flexible, this makes app support more difficult because every configuration is different. An app that truly ensures the assembly process with step-by-step instructions would need to cover all possible variants and present them in 3D or with animations.
In practice, you can manage PLATSA without a specialized app if you:
- Use the original assembly instructions (which are usually very detailed)
- Additionally use videos or tutorials that demonstrate individual steps
If you like, you can describe in more detail what kind of support you are looking for. Should the app guide you during assembly using the camera, automatically recognize tools and parts, or is your focus on planning, assembly, or both?

I am mainly interested in the assembly phase. I envision an app that not only shows me the steps but also guides me through the parts—ideally with images or even 3D models that I can rotate to better understand how to install each part. Additionally, it would be great if the app provided a list of the required screws and tools, so I can check in advance if I have everything.
The planning is already done on my end, as I have accurately measured the space. However, some kind of visualization of the components during assembly would be the key for me.
I used an app for a similar cabinet that isn’t specifically designed for PLATSA but basically offers some useful features:
- Clear separation of assembly steps with images
- Tool and parts lists
- Warnings about common mistakes
The app is called "Ikea Assembly Helper," although its availability varies by region, and it mostly covers the popular classic products rather than PLATSA specifically.
My recommendation:
- Use the official Ikea app for the official instructions
- Supplement these with YouTube tutorials
- Possibly take your own notes or photos during assembly for future reference
At the moment, I don’t know of a comprehensive app with 3D models and automatic recognition of parts.
