Hello everyone,

I would like to install my Ikea kitchen with a countertop height of 100 cm (39 inches).
I have learned that by using the 16 cm (6.3 inches) Capita legs, it is possible to raise the height above the standard plinth height of 8 cm (3.1 inches). This would mean increasing the usual 92 cm (36 inches) countertop height by 8 cm (3.1 inches).
In the online planner, I can equip all the base cabinets with Capita legs (although only 8 cm (3.1 inches) ones are offered—possibly for simplicity), but the dishwasher base cabinet cannot be fitted with Capita legs, only with a plinth panel!

How should I interpret this? Does that mean the dishwasher base cabinet cannot be raised by 8 cm (3.1 inches) above the standard height?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Chris

The problem is that dishwashers cannot be fully integrated into a cabinet. They typically stand between base cabinets and have an unattractive plinth, which is usually covered by the kickboard that runs along the entire row. The adjustable feet cannot be extended enough to reach a height of 96 cm (38 inches). (Or can they for XXL models? You would need to check with the manufacturer.) An exposed plinth and a built-in dishwasher just don’t really go together.

For Metod, the kickboards are only 8 cm (3 inches) high. Therefore, a custom solution is needed.

Okay, then I need to seriously reconsider whether it’s really worth it for me.

The covers can be clipped onto the Metod legs, but is this also possible with the Capita legs?
If so, it might be possible to simply attach two covers on top of each other, assuming the previous question is answered affirmatively.

PS: Is there any fundamental reason against placing the dishwasher directly on an 8cm (3 inch) thick particle board?

If so, would it be feasible to simply install two panels on top of each other, assuming the previous question is answered positively?

No, my dishwasher also stands on a piece of countertop.

Two panels stacked on top of each other won’t look very good. Capita legs are thinner than Metod legs. So you would either need to thicken the Capita legs or make suitable brackets yourself.
You could also cut plinth panels from larger side panels or use Faktum plinth panels with 25mm (1 inch) quick clamps for installation pipes, which fit well on Capita legs. If you’re lucky, you might still find Faktum plinth panels in a clearance sale, otherwise look for Faktum replacements.

Unconventional solutions are less suitable if you are not assembling the kitchen yourself.

Hello Chris,
place the dishwasher on a 40 cm (16 inches) high base cabinet.
It’s better for your back and makes loading and unloading easier.
