Hello everyone,

I am planning to assemble an IKEA Brimnes wardrobe soon and would like to know which tools or aids have helped you the most. Since the IKEA manual is quite basic, I’m especially interested in tips on which tools beyond the ones provided are useful to avoid assembly mistakes and make the process more efficient.

I’m particularly curious if you recommend specific screwdrivers or cordless drills, if certain bits or attachments are helpful, or if you have used alternative aids like squares, clamps, or perhaps special screws.

Also, how did you keep track of the many parts and manage the assembly steps? I want to work as smoothly and neatly as possible. I appreciate any experience and advice!

I would recommend:
- A cordless screwdriver with a Phillips bit,
- A small hammer for wall plugs,
- A spirit level,
- Possibly pliers for stubborn parts.

This offers more convenience than just using a screwdriver and the supplied Torx tool.

I really enjoyed assembling my Brimnes! 😊

A cordless screwdriver was a great help, especially with a Torx bit attachment – it really saves a lot of time and frustration! Make sure to take your time sorting all the parts beforehand.

Tip: A ruler-sized square can be really useful to ensure the correct 90° angle during assembly. You can do it, get cracking with the screws!

Hello Caioneo,

I’d like to give you a clear overview of the tools that are especially useful for assembling the Brimnes:

- Cordless screwdriver with individual bits (Torx T20 and possibly PH2 cross-head)
- Small hammer for wooden dowels
- Spirit level for alignment, especially if the cabinet is placed against a wall
- Flathead and Phillips screwdrivers as a backup
- Optional clamps if you want to hold parts in place while screwing them together

Common mistakes include overtightening screws (risk of wood splitting!) or incorrect alignment of the side panels. A try square or the spirit level can be very helpful here.

It’s best to sort the parts beforehand, keep the instructions close at hand, and work step by step. This way, you can avoid mix-ups. I hope this helps you!

Hello Caioneo,

a small tip from my experience: IKEA usually delivers all necessary parts including tools, but especially with the Brimnes, a small cordless drill with adjustable torque control works really well. It helps prevent overtightening the screws and damaging the panels. A simple screwdriver also works, but it can be much more tiring for longer sections.

Even though it’s already been mentioned: a spirit level is invaluable for final alignment, especially if the wardrobe is placed in a corner or on uneven floors.

I also recommend reading the entire manual beforehand. This way, you can see which tools you should have ready and better visualize the assembly steps.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

A cordless screwdriver with a Torx bit is the most important tool. Besides that, a hammer for dowels and a spirit level. Nothing more is needed.
