Hello everyone,
I am planning to assemble an IKEA Brimnes wardrobe soon and would like to know which tools or aids have helped you the most. Since the IKEA manual is quite basic, I’m especially interested in tips on which tools beyond the ones provided are useful to avoid assembly mistakes and make the process more efficient.
I’m particularly curious if you recommend specific screwdrivers or cordless drills, if certain bits or attachments are helpful, or if you have used alternative aids like squares, clamps, or perhaps special screws.
Also, how did you keep track of the many parts and manage the assembly steps? I want to work as smoothly and neatly as possible. I appreciate any experience and advice!

A cordless drill really helped me a lot, especially with a Torx bit attachment – it saves so much time and hassle!I completely agree! Also, I would recommend not tightening the screws fully right away. It’s better to loosely fit all of them first, then gradually tighten them. This way, everything remains flexible and the parts fit together better.
Here’s another tip: If, like me, you prefer a relaxed atmosphere while assembling, make sure to have good music and maybe a coffee – it completes the experience and helps you finish the Brimnes without any stress!
Assembling Brimnes is really not rocket science! 😄
I can only agree with the previous comments: a cordless drill with a Torx bit and a spirit level are perfect.
A little tip: I always keep a can of cola handy 😉, a bit more relaxed and things go smoother.
And: Don’t get frustrated if a screw is hard to drive in sometimes; that’s normal. Just be patient and avoid using force – that will keep both the cabinet and your nerves intact. You’ll manage it!

Typical mistakes include overtightening the screws (risk of wood splitting!) or incorrect alignment of the side panels. This is a very important point! I would like to add that with Brimnes, it is also important to pay attention to the correct assembly sequence. If you first loosely fit all the boards together and then screw them in, it is easier to make angle adjustments.
I also use a small workbench or at least a clean, flat surface. This helps prevent scratches and makes handling the heavy panels easier.
If you have any questions about the order or how to handle individual parts, I’m happy to help.
