ᐅ How stable does the Ikea BRIMNES wardrobe remain after several years?

Momeo30Hello everyone, I have been considering buying the Ikea Brimnes wardrobe for some time, mainly because of its storage capacity and design. My main question is quite specific: How stable and durable is this wardrobe really after several years of use, say 5 years or more?
I am asking because I have read that furniture made from particleboard and similar materials often experiences issues with warping, hinges, or shelf supports – especially if they are frequently opened and heavily used. So, I am interested not only in whether it is stable at first, but also how well the construction and materials have held up in households where the wardrobe is used daily.
It would be helpful to know if signs of wear such as wobbling, squeaking noises, or even cracks have appeared, and how attaching it to the wall affects its long-term stability.
I look forward to hearing about personal experiences or any tips on what to watch out for during assembly and use to ensure the longest possible lifespan.

Hello Momeo30,
your question is very valid, especially when it comes to furniture made from particleboard or MDF, as stability after extended use is a crucial factor.
The IKEA BRIMNES wardrobe mainly uses coated wood-based panels, which can remain stable for several years under normal use, provided that:
- Assembly is done carefully, particularly the connections between the individual parts
- The recommended wall fixings are applied to prevent tipping hazards
- Excessive weight is not placed on shelves or doors (the specified maximum load limits should be observed)
In my experience, minor wear on hinges or shelf supports may occur over time, but this rarely affects stability if you adjust or replace parts early on. Issues like warping are more likely to happen if moisture gets in or the wardrobe is improperly loaded.
If you’re still unsure, you can look specifically for user reports describing usage over 5 years – forums like this one often have many such experiences. I hope this helps you already.
