ᐅ Are there repair kits available for IKEA Metod cabinet fronts?

Hello everyone,

I have been looking closely at my IKEA Metod kitchen, and unfortunately, some of the cabinet fronts have small, unsightly scratches and dents. Now I’m wondering: Are there any repair kits or materials specifically designed for IKEA Metod fronts?

I know there are many generic furniture repair kits available, but I’m looking for something tailored to the materials and finishes of the Metod fronts to achieve the best, least noticeable repairs.

Does anyone here have experience with this or any tips on where to find such kits?

I wonder if such repair kits can truly maintain the durability and appearance of the original cabinet fronts. Often, repairs remain visible or darken over time.

Wouldn't it be more practical to consider replacing individual fronts instead? At IKEA, fronts are relatively easy to order separately.

I have thought about that as well, but especially with older kitchens, some fronts are no longer available, or the colors have changed. Also, I want to keep the effort and costs as low as possible – for this reason, a repair kit for minor damages would be ideal.

If you have foil-covered fronts, you can try using special repair wax sticks. They come in various colors and work well for small scratches.

As an addition: Polish specifically designed for melamine surfaces can also help reduce minor surface scratches. These are often available at hardware stores.

I once repaired fronts using a wood repair kit that wasn’t specifically designed for IKEA. What I found important was to thoroughly clean the damaged area beforehand and to apply the repair material carefully and in layers. You shouldn’t expect too much, but it definitely helps reduce visible imperfections.

Just putting it out there: An IKEA repair kit like a "Metod Special" would be amazing. Until that exists, the approach is:

- Handle minor damages pragmatically
- Touch up with paint pens if needed
- And if it really gets stuck – order a new front or embrace minimalist charm 😉
