Hello everyone,

I am planning to assemble the IKEA Brimnes wardrobe myself and would like to know in advance: based on your experience, which tools are best suited for assembling this model? I am particularly interested in which hand tools or possibly power tools are really useful to put together the furniture set efficiently, without damage, and as safely as possible.

I am also curious whether the included tools are sufficient or if it is better to use your own equipment, and if so, what you would specifically recommend—for example, cordless drill, sizes of hex keys, an additional hammer, or similar. I look forward to your tips and experiences!

A standard rubber mallet weighing about 300-400 grams (10-14 ounces) is usually sufficient for the Brimnes. It is important that the striking surface is clean and slightly flexible to avoid damaging or denting the wood surfaces.

Additionally, I recommend controlling the hammer strikes carefully—using several light taps rather than one strong hit. This helps prevent unwanted scratches or dents on particleboard furniture.

One more note on usage: The Brimnes is mostly made of coated particleboard, so the tools should be handled carefully.

- Cordless screwdriver: Set the torque to a low level to avoid damaging the screw holes.
- Allen key (hex key): Should fit well to prevent rounding off the screws.
- Rubber mallet: Use only for light adjustments.

A tip: Always screw in carefully, without applying excessive force. This saves time on rework.

Also use a small spirit level. It’s not exactly a tool, but it helps to align doors and shelves precisely during assembly. This way, you avoid having everything uneven afterward.

One small tip: For the included wall plugs, sometimes a small wooden mallet works better than a metal hammer. This helps prevent the plugs from splitting or being driven in too forcefully.
