Hello everyone, I plan to assemble the Ikea Brimnes bedroom set and want to prepare as well as possible to save time and avoid frustration. Therefore, I have a question for the community: Which tools are particularly suitable for assembling BRIMNES furniture? I am looking for recommendations on tools that make the assembly easier, simplify handling of the individual parts, or help avoid common pitfalls. It would be helpful to know whether having your own tools like a cordless screwdriver or special tools is necessary, or if the tools included in the package are sufficient. Thank you in advance for your tips and experiences!
One more small tip that is often overlooked: although you don't really need an adjustable torque wrench for Brimnes, a torque limiter on your cordless drill is invaluable. It gently tightens the screws at the end, preventing any material damage! And placing a cloth between the hammer and the wood softens the impact and keeps it neat.
I am still missing some information about the assembly sequence and the use of tools: During which stage of the assembly did you use the rubber mallet the most? Does anyone use edge protectors or screw protectors? I’m asking because the assembly of BRIMNES often fails due to the large panels not fitting perfectly, and you want to avoid leaving marks. Are there any specific proven techniques for this?

At which assembly phase did you use the rubber mallet the most? The rubber mallet is mainly used during the installation of wooden dowels, that is, just before the large panels are firmly connected.

Are there any tried-and-tested techniques for this?Yes: Gently tap the dowels with the rubber mallet to avoid damage. It is also recommended to lightly coat the dowels with something like beeswax beforehand to make the connection easier.

Carefully tap the anchors in with a rubber mallet to avoid damage.I agree with that. When you're in a hurry, it's easy for the wooden parts to split. Patience and good tools keep the assembly clean.

In summary, I have learned that for assembling the Ikea BRIMNES, a cordless drill with torque control, a rubber mallet, a set of Allen keys, and a spirit level are recommended. I especially want to handle the wooden dowels carefully and possibly use work gloves to make the assembly more comfortable. If time is limited, using a cordless drill instead of manual tools is also advisable. If anyone has any final tips or warnings, I look forward to your feedback!
