Hello everyone, I am currently focusing on storage solutions for very small living spaces and came across the Ikea PAX wardrobe systems. I am particularly interested in which PAX wardrobe combinations work best for small rooms without appearing too bulky or taking up too much space. It is important to me to find a balance between maximum storage capacity and the most compact footprint possible. What should be especially considered when putting together the modules in small rooms? Are there specific widths, depths, or heights that are more suitable? I would also like ideas on doors (sliding or hinged) and interior layouts. I appreciate practical tips and shared experiences!

It is important not only to look at the dimensions but also at the cabinet access.

I agree with this. Additionally, I would like to point out that especially the combination of shallow depth (35 cm [14 inches]) and sliding doors in small rooms creates the optimal balance between functionality and space efficiency. Furthermore, modular widths of 50 cm (20 inches) are very helpful to adapt flexibly to room layouts.

Possible pitfalls: pay attention to the placement of windows, radiators, and electrical outlets to avoid impractical cabinet positioning.

This is also very important, as in small rooms, a large cabinet can quickly block natural light flow or cover radiators, causing problems.

As an addition: If the room is really very small, installing a corner PAX wardrobe might be a good idea. Although Ikea does not offer dedicated corner modules, you can combine two 50cm (20 inch) wide PAX units at a right angle to make good use of the corner. It is also important to consider the lighting inside the wardrobe – LED strips or integrated lights make it easier to find clothing. Finally, I would recommend choosing sliding doors in a light color or with mirrors for a small room. This visually enhances the sense of space without taking up extra room.
