pitiboHello everyone,
I am currently looking for a suitable Ikea PAX model for a typical shared apartment room. The space is usually quite limited, so the wardrobe should be compact but still offer enough storage—mainly for clothes, shoes, and possibly some small items. It would also be practical if the model is relatively easy to assemble and flexible in design, since the shared living situation can change quickly. Are there any recommendations on which PAX variants work particularly well for shared apartment rooms? Maybe also experiences with specific widths, depths, or interior fittings? Thanks in advance!

Hello pitibo,
Your criteria are well defined. In general, PAX models with a depth of 50cm (20 inches) are very suitable as they don’t take up too much space but can provide plenty of storage thanks to modular interior fittings. It is also important to decide between doors with mirrors or without, depending on whether a mirror is needed in the shared apartment room.
Additionally, you can customize the wardrobe with various interior organizer elements (drawers, clothing rods, shelves), which optimizes the storage space. If the room has limited space, I recommend a one- or two-door model.
If you want to know more about the assembly plan or the interior fittings, feel free to ask!

Interesting question. Besides the overall size, I think the quality of the interior components should also be considered – some of the more affordable PAX models can feel unstable, especially when it comes to the drawers. Does anyone have experience with more durable versions or alternatives within the PAX range?
Additionally, it might be worth checking whether the PAX models with a depth of up to 58 cm (23 inches) are actually more practical for shared apartments, as they offer more storage space while remaining relatively compact.
